There must be a way to get the carry handle off so you can get it all the way apart.

I know this is pretty late but as it's not mentioned here, the Carry handle has a metal arm across the mechanism, that is tightly press fit inside that arm. I used a sturdy plastic pry bar (like used for removing internal car panels) to separate this.

there is a screw in the carry handle that once taken out can disassemble
