I’ve always loved Taking Back Sunday. Adam is one of my favorite singers but I think he often wrote melodies that were out of his range. It shows all these years later.

This band is my all time favorite band, I know the vocals are bad, but one they have aged, and its very clear that Adam's voice, has changed, and honestly, prob been harmed from years, of singing wrong, or blowing out his voice. But no matter what, even if its different, they still have that passion in my opinion, that what made me love them in the first place.

I agree the Vocals are very bad here. However vocals can go up and down depending on how the sound is , Also what leg of tour it is whether it's the first shows or the last shows of a long tiring tour. Everyone has good and bad days unles your like a prime vocal Whitney Houston or something. It's hard for a rock singer to never have an off show. Adam is not old enough to use age as an excuse. I wouldn't consider myself a diehard Taking Back Sunday fan but I do like some of their stuff. However I am not sure whether the diehard fans will agree with me or not but The really Kick ass live shows and incredible songs by this band seemed to walk out the door with Fred Mascherino. He really made the songs good as a fantastic co vocalist and playing a very good guitar that fit the band perfect. He was just one of those hard to replace guys. For me the songs have not been as good since just my opinion

I just saw them yesterday in Anchorage and Mark and John couldn’t make it (due to flights) so they did an acoustic set. I have to say, it was pretty amazing. He can sing like the album and did last night. So do with this info what you will lol

Adam is 40. He's not a spring chicken but he's not THAT old considering there are other rockers his age or older still belting out those hard to reach notes. I think his vocals are more of a product of his style changing over the last 10 years. Which is why I have not enjoyed the last 2 albums as much.

Adams technique and melodies always pressed a higher end of the male range. In your 20s it’s easier because of the cord freshness, they can withstand more abuse. It’s difficult to maintain that edge after years of touring. The vocal cords age like any other muscle. I’m sure he’s taken lessons and knows proper techniques and is one of my fav rock singers. It’s hard singing songs you wrote 20 years ago. By Error Operator he sounds like he’s warmed up and firing on all cylinders. Still love ya guys.

Aware he don't sound on par yet i still got vip tickets to see them in 2 weeks. I jus went to the blink show alone expecting crappy punk rock but they sounded phenomenal but more importantly, singing my favorite songs top of my lungs with a sold out crowd doin the same..that is so priceless. As a lifetime hip hop head, somehow Make Damn Sure and Blinks I Miss You has been in my mp3, ipod n phone playlist since they released..they are a requirement. Seeing both live and Sunny Day Real Estate in August is fulfilling near life long semi secret dreams.

What do people mean when they say "Adam's vocals aren't great"? I think what they mean is that the high notes lack because it's way past his range at his age, in combination with ruining his voice nonstop singing for 20 + years. He nails some of the parts of the old songs or even the opening of Cute Without the E. Why? Because he is fresh or because it's closer to his actual vocal range now. Of course he is forced to play the old classics, because fans love it, even though he probably prefers playing new material. But you gotta please the crowd in order to get more gigs. So he keeps on going. I hope for TBS to release more songs that fits Adam's current voice. Let him have those mid range songs where he is brilliant. Cause he got one hell of a voice still. He just can't go full blast for long.

I agree, I think what Adam really needs is to use alternative phrasing in his singing, like how Freddie Mercury did during concerts where his voice was trashed to oblivion.

What are people in the comments talking about? His vocals sound fine. You have to remember that they didn't play any shows for like a year and a half before this. You take a year and a half off from doing something and see how easily you pick it back up

So yes I agree Adams Vocals aren't great. Lol.. But if I may... Remember this was after a long long Covid Layoff.. They didn't play any shows for over a year. Once they got back on tour and playing shows again Night after Night, Adams Vocal chords needs to get back to "Tour Strength" again.. I'd assume his Vocals got better and stronger throughout this tour.. If you go listen to the new song just released from The Maine, TBS, and Charlotte Sand, Adams Vocals sounded great.. Yes I know that's his studio Vocals but I'd bet his Vocals got stronger as the tour went on and after some Vocal rest. Adams never been that "Great" of a singer.. But he's definitely gotten stronger as a singer.. I'm sure the Long layoff from not touring and not singing Night after Night took it's toll on him. As I'm sure it would anyone.. But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong. I was supposed to see them play with "Thursday" in Ohio last Summer and got screwed out of going. 😂😆 Taking Back Sunday seriously has been my favorite band since 2002.. To me, what sucks about this worse than Adams Vocals is TBS has NO stage presence anymore!! The only one that's playing with any fire or Passion is Nathan!! And he's just "a touring guitar player" FFS!! (And of course Mark.. I think Mark always plays with Fire/Passion) If TBS isn't gonna go get Eddie or Fred back (preferably both lol) then they should do right with Nathan and make him a "Official Member" John looks bored and like he'd rather be anywhere other than playing Onstage.. Shaun has his moments but his stage show is nothing compared to Matt's.. just my opinion. Adam doesn't move like he use to either. That was one thing you could always count on when going to a TBS show circa 2002-2009 is they'd put on a great stage show.. Not anymore. I'm sure I was like most TBS fans and was beyond excited when they announced that John and Shaun was coming back... but TBS hasn't been the same since!! Anyway thanks for uploading this!! I still miss the Fred and Matt Era.. Hopefully 2022 TBS will release a New Album that's as great as TAYF, WYWTB, Louder Now, and New Again. 🤘

Theres a lot of comments on how the band/vocals are lacking. Here is my take on it First you gotta take into account how many shows have been played before this one. 3/4 through a tour isnt gonna sound as good as the first few shows. Then you gotta think how long they've been absolutely blowing their voices out singing all these great songs. That's gonna do some damage after years of touring. Lastly, when I heard this video I immediatley loved the fact that they didnt play it safe at all. It was all out on the table. It was like this is what we sound like and we're not gonna hold back at all. That passion there is why I've continued listening to them through the years and all the different chapters of their music. To me they're great!

@@patpatpat Actually i'll add this to the fire. I saw them in 2019, and he actually sounded better than I ever thought. I was really afraid from these sorts of vids that it would be terrible. I think while yes he isn't the singer he was, he has good and bad days. I know he was trying to get a production degree, so it could be that during the pandemic he spent more time focusing on that, and hasn't really gotten he sea legs back to preform. Idk, I say let the mans sing. Cringe or not.
