You should sprinkle some lime down after cleaning out your animal's living areas. It will help both with drying up urine soaked areas, and cut down on the insects/parasites attracted to wet areas.

Out of that mixed batch of chickens you bought from the hatchery, how many of them were roosters?

I think 0, they were all hens. You can find the details page on their video "We ordered 600 chickens for our small farm." at 2:16

Out of curiosity why do you have some that are free-ranged and some that's in that cage kind of thing? Did you just keep him in the cage because they came from your friend or did you make it separate?

Hi, thanks for watching and for the questions. When I filmed this we had only had those chickens for a few days. In order to integrate them with our flock we need to make sure they know where home is, that they are healthy (which I’m sure of because my friend took excellent care of them, but it’s still good to keep an eye on before you mix, and so they can get to know our other birds through wire. These chickens had never free ranged a day in their life so if I let them out they wouldn’t know where to return at night. Also chickens will literally peck each other to death if not introduce properly. The next step for them will be setting up an electric fence that connects to their run so they can go out and explore some but not go to far.
