I had an idea as I watched this. In the very beginning that one co-worker was talking about how Naomi was found as a baby in tunnel abandoned and they did not have any idea as to who her parents were, then in the old guy's family it said that their was cursed placed upon them, causing them all to die and etc. Maybe Naomi was actually related to the family and her parents abandoned her in an attempt to keep her from being affected from the curse or it could have been the curse doing it's thing and that's how she got left like that through a series of events that would probably be complicated af. After all, she did die as a result of said curse in the end.
