WHOAH! That's as sweet as. Mine was black with the red detailing and I bought it for £11,500 in 2001. 79192 was absolutely bone stock, factory paint and zero rust. No trackdays or accidents. I saw it 'as arrived' from Germany and the first owner 1990-93 was BMW AG Munich. It had a glass out repaint before I took delivery and those were the days when you could order all the special bits from BMW - suede steering wheel, red plug leads, the console plaque, front grilles......so I did. I sold it in '03 for.........shit, I don't want to think about it. 😬😂

Specs on your car: Produced for 3 months only in 1990 -Wider front wheel arches on the sport Evo. -Lower front suspension than regular e30 m3(10MM/0.4in) -Engine change from 2302(reg) to 2467cc (Sport evo) via elongated crankshaft throw and plumber bores, giving 18bhp and 10nm. The 2.5 wvo 3 had a 95mm bore. The biggest on any 4 cylinder back then outside of the Porsche 3ltr (104mm) as at 1992 - It had oversize inlet valves (38.5mm/1.52in) instead of the usual m3 38mm/1.5in - Camshaft timing went from 264deg to 282. Compression was not raised but dropped from 10.5:1 of the m3 to 10.2:1 - Internal engine mods incl Sodium cooled exhaust valves- the head diameter as before - and oil injectors to spray beneath the pistons - Exhaust pipes should be polished -Colours were “Brilliant Red or Jet black on the sport Evo and not Misano red or metallic black as was with the other e30 m3’s or henna red for the earlier cars. -Some had EDC Electronic Damper Control suspension settings not all though. -All front end openings were additionally streamlined (Headlight mountings, front grille attachment areas and bonnet surrounds) -Yours should have a 62ltr tank like the regular 320/325i as opposed to the standard 70ltr on all m3. This was to maintain the 1200kg weight with the subtle additions of aero panels etc -Also front and rear bumpers had bits carved out out them to reduce weight and also depth of the side glass - Deletion of roof grab handles and Map reading lights were removed to save weight Note the Evo final drive was slower than the regular m3, but 4th gear let the engine rev (50-75) in 7.6 secs. - Wheels are as should be on your car as is shown in your vid (the colour theme dark in centre and lighter on the alloy rims wheel was specific for the evo3 only) to the model only. -it was possible to spec them higher but at very significantly higher cost(won’t go into the low level details) That’s pretty much the changes between the evo3 and the Evo 1/2 or regular m3’s and other special edition cars and the most important data around your specific car you will ever find. Congratulations and good luck 👊🏿👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👌🏿😎

Congratulations on this beautiful acquisition. I have to confess that although the E30 M3 is also my holy grail touring car, I prefer the original 2.3 litre version that won the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1987. My reasoning is that to my eyes, the more restrained aero on the original 2.3 litre was more visually appealing (totally subjective I admit). Secondly, the 2.3 litre was more challenging to drive partly because setting it up for each track was much harder - you really had to get deep into the suspension settings to get a good lap time due to the lack of torque versus the 2.5 litre (Frank Gardner once said the 2.3 litre E30 M3 was the most challenging race car to setup he ever dealt with - he himself did most of the testing miles in that 1987 season). The second reason was as mentioned - the lack of torque - so if anything the original 2.3 was a bit more spectacular on track because drivers were forced to tackle the corners at 11/10ths the whole race. And my third reason sort of gets into the politics of the era: these adjustable aero evolutions were the beginning of the end in my book - suddenly motorsport was starting to move to aero being a big thing (the 1994 Alfa Super Tourer took it to the next step) and that has evolved to what we have to today. I just preferred the old days where it was all about mechanical grip. That is just me though. This 2.5 litre version was in a German championship where the rules permitted an even playing field with the 190E - which is more than one can say for the final years of international Group A.

I really enjoyed reading this, i can understand the fun and accomplishing feeling wringing out a 2.3 L to its absolute limit
@jonathanparle84296 ай бұрын
@@m3nameisjosh464 If you want to see these BMW M3s driven to their absolute limit then watch (here on KZbin) rounds from the Australian Touring Car Championship in 1987. The two best rounds for E30 M3 lovers would be the last two - at Amaroo Park in 1987 and Oran Park in 1987 where Jim Richards driving the JPS sponsored E30 M3 won both times - literally running rings around the opposition. But there is a third great encounter earlier that year at Symmons Plains- there is a video on KZbin showing the little 2.3 litre M3 with Jim Richards at the wheel going toe to toe for several laps on end against Peter Brock in his VK Commodore V8. The M3 wins out. But perhaps the best footage from 1987 is at Bathurst - where there is a few minutes of footage from Glenn Seton's DR30 Nissan racecam following the black BMW M3 right on the M3's rear bumper (so you can really see the little M3 dancing around). As for the EVO model, there is the second Lakeside round from 1992 I think and also Tony Longhurst's qualifying top ten round off at Bathurst that same year. Yes, the 2.5 litre still needed to have its neck rung since the cars over the last 4 years of evolution were substantially faster than they were back in 1987. If anything, I was amazed that the 2.5 litre version was so much faster than the original 2.3 litre version. OK, the engine had more torque and power but it wasn't chalk and cheese (something like 340 bhp for the EVO versus 300 for the 2.3 litre). Yet the EVO was almost 2 seconds per lap faster on the average Australian track in 1992 compared to 1987. Just astonishing and a testament o not only the larger engine but the new aero package.
