Hey congrats on your new boat! You'll be old salts before you know it. I suggest you pick up a copy of Chapmans piloting (the boating bible) It covers everything boating like rules of the road, channel markers, buoys, radio procedures safety stuff. Let the fun begin!

Congratulations on your new boat. One thing I found over the years is when it’s rough out there, you either speed up to smooth out the ride or slow it down a little. It seems to be trial and error and based on the length of the boat. My brother had a 36 ft Sea Ray, so like I said the length of the boat also will contribute to the ride.

I am much more timid on the throttle than my hubby for sure. It has been fairly smooth cruising on the lake we’ve been out on but we’ll definitely take the recommendations you made and just try to find that sweet spot if/ when we find ourselves in rough waters again. Thanks for watching.

We own a Ranger Tug R-23 of a similar size and layout. We took delivery in Pensacola, too! Then we brought her home to North Carolina. Also, big Jeep guy (now my sons have them), and we tow with a Ram 2500. Great video of your delivery experience!

Yes, Ranger Tugs are really nice. We toured a R-27 during our boat search. We hated trading the Jeep in but we just kept upgrading our travel trailers so the tow vehicles kept changing. Thanks for the kind words and checking out the video. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

I remember when Sea Ray used to rule boats in this class, specifically the Sundancer and Weekender models in the 24’ to 27’ range. Instead they decided to go the goofy day boat, bow rider route and abandon years of reputation building study, all around boats, I guess to go after the Florida market. Look at all of the sales they’re losing to boats like this, Cutwater, Ranger, even Regal which are all making towable, family boats that you can overnight in. All Sea Ray had to do was re-engineer the Sundancer to capitalize on the trend towards outboards and I’ll bet they’d be in better financial shape.

It is so much competition in the tug style space. I guess some companies just decide to do what they know will sell best because the tug style boats definitely are not for everyone. 😊 We love ours and want to use it more often. Thanks for coming by the channel.

@@BoatLifeinFlorida Thanks for watching. It has served us well. We have not taken it too far off shore or on any long distance trips yet but we want to in the future. It is a little small on the inside for a family of 4 adult sized people and a dog … so if you have a large family, strongly consider the 895 for a bit more living and extra cabin. @@NoahSonicDiaz The 895 we strongly considered was trailerable but a bit out of our price range. I also think that depends on the laws where you are as well. The beam was pushing it probably in most places.

10:54 It's approaching 10 years since the first design and they are still mounting the compass in the centre of the boat rather than in front of the skipper. 🤦‍♂

I think what the deal is so many people are relying on electronics to navigate that the compass is an after thought. I use my compass because I’m old school but if I could put my GPS right in front of me, it would be a good thing.
