Love those Monte Carlos, my uncle bought a brand new one of those in 87 same color combo and then sold it in 1999. Yep, he regretted it, but at the time no one knew they would be classics. Looking forward to this build.

I love adding more power, but man it's hard to see this clean of a car be worked up. I'd detail the exterior and see how it looks there, it looks really nice I don't think a Maaco job would improve it. My dad had an all original 84 SS that he sold, a few years later (2015 ish) I found it for sale with a similar engine/trans combo as the one you're swapping in. Cool to see, but sad to see at the same time.
@ChevyBoy94919 ай бұрын
My opinion no matter how clean it is that 5.0 is gutless so adding that engine is perfect and will fit the car alot better and make that ss mean something.

My first car was a black 87 with t tops. I was 17 years old and my brother had just passed away, I bought it off his best friend who used to race my brother's new 96 Camaro. It got stolen in Logan Square Chicago about a year later. Broke my heart. I'm 45 years old now and I'll always have a sweet spot for the Monty.

You should find an old Chevy Luv pickup or even an S10 or S15 and put that 5.0 in it. Rescue an old Crusher from the junkyard and give it new life and a Fresh coat of paint and would probably be great video content

I’ve had three of this era Monte Carlo SS…the two that were entirely original were worth much more than the one I bought with a replacement motor…the replacement was a 350 built crate motor…the originals ran much better…. It’s getting rare that you see one of these that hasn’t been altered …my first SS was a twin to this one…wish i still had it

Here in Canada, those old 80s Montes and Firebirds are getting so scarce...its like a small cult of classic car owners here, its so incredibly rare to see a classic in our area just out for a drive and not just sitting at a car show. Prices are just waaaaay too high here up north.

So seeing that the car was kind of dirty, I was thinking, you should get an unlimited number of car washes at some place, so you can take all your cars to get washed constantly it'd be cool for example, there's a Shell gas station and you paid 20 bucks a month and you can wash your car unlimited with the automatic wash and I was just thinking that would be great for you to save time and keep the cars clean at a affordable price👍

If it were me(and obviously it's your cars to do what you wish to do), I'd be taking the Mustang LX out on Power Tour. It's already been set up with a new engine, and much more work already done and is sharp as a tack in that red. Seems perfect for Power Tour. And having a hatchback is quite handy when traveling. The Monte would make a great street cruiser, cars and coffee/car show type of vehicle in its orginal condition. I know your already selling the Mustang LX and have the sponership deal in place for the engine on the Monte, but just my 2 cents.

@mypointofview60569 ай бұрын
I get both sides of it is only original once. I have 2 classic cars. One is a 85 Monte Carlo SS which I am going to great lengths to keep original as possible. With everyone modifying these cars, before long finding a really nice original car will get harder and harder. Plus I want my SS as a driver. for the same reason you was saying it is comfortable and it just seems to float going down the road. My other car fills my other needs. It is a 78 Corvette it is modified with a 383, and aftermarket AC, The car will do 11.6 quarter mile. So I have the best of both worlds. Being that your car was bought from the original owner, and was in such good condition I would have a hard time making a mod out of it. I would do exactly what I did with mine. The Corvette on the other hand the paint had been color changed, and other mods had already been done to it, so keeping it original would have been harder and probably cost me more than just making a modified car. Like I say I can see both sides. But in this case you have a really nice car that in the long run will cost less to keep it original than it will to modify it, and I would bet it will be driven more if kept in that original condition, and a few years down the road, keeping it original may even make it worth more money. But it is your car.

Yo Randy,, you might want to do that rear end sooner rather than later; if it's stock it should be a posi, & I believe the SS had taller gears. Point being for what it is, it's a nice unit & worth not burning up, which will happen pretty quick (been there, ruined the t shirt).
@TheBBodyBuilder9 ай бұрын
Don’t let Maaco paint that car…paint correct it, add new stickers but don’t have it painted. That’s a great way to ruin it. 3 inch exhaust is not needed for the engine you have planned. Run a nice 2.5 with an X pipe and some free flowing mufflers. Will sound great and have plenty of flow. Why can’t you retain all of the factory options? Cruise, AC and power steering can all easily be retained. Keep the car looking stock with a little extra in the drive line. Personally I think you should go LS with fuel injection and a turbo.
@AutoAuctionRebuilds9 ай бұрын
It's already been repainted once. Too late.
@TheBBodyBuilder9 ай бұрын
@@AutoAuctionRebuilds But I bet it was not repainted by Maaco…from what you have shown I believe the paint will clean up with paint correction and a buff and polish. If you go to get it painted and insist on going to Maaco hopefully they don’t let Ray Charles prep and paint it.
