Pikachu in all Smash games has always historically been bad against huge disjoints. It's a big reason for why Ness beats him in this game and it's what stopped Pika from being top tier in 4. Turns out on top of his monstrous disjoints, Sephiroth is not only difficult to edgeguard, but is one of the few characters that can actually edgeguard Pikachu decently well and nullifies his zoning. Not saying he loses to Sephiroth, but it isn't at all bad. Pikachu in general though is largely overrated and a lot of matchups people thinks he effortlessly wins are closer than they think.

I can never edge guard this character because his recovery is broken. If being a lightweight and being tall are the only downsides, there is no way this character is not Top 10.

Sephiroth does have disadvantage against pikachu. Mainly because some of his attack options are just innefective against Pikachu's height. This is just Tweek being the best player; HOWEVER, the fact Sephiroth defended himself so beautifully with all of his options against Pikachu further cements the fact anyone maining Sephiroth and exploiting the character, have a solid borderline top tier.

@@garrettgrimm1307 Pika is a top tier because he can combo, has a good projectile game that can even ledgetrap. Has two forms of spike, has a non linear and sometimes hard to predict recovery. Pikachu is also very tiny which means many attacks from other characters won't reach him. His only dissadvantage? He's light. Big deal right? In most Match up charts, Pikachui wins against most of the roster. That alone makes him a top tier.

You think so? Shiny mark was defeated by the ex top 1 in Panama before he got banned from the community, and these central american guys can't cut it in major U.S tournaments. They are not even ranked top 32 if I am not mistaken. Meanwhile ESAM is. My point is, even if you are right and Shinymark is the best pika player between the two, doesn't mean he has the experience ESAM has against other serious opponents. I particularly don't like ESAM but we gotta give credit where is due.
