That sausage needed to be cooked for a bit longer 🙈. What a lovely place to visit. A beautiful autumn day. I love the children’s unique individuality, Jack has a great sense of style. Teddy loves to help with all the food prep & Piper is so kind and thoughtful. Rosie is a lovely girl, a few weeks intensive training would make life for all of you much easier.

Always enjoy your videos the best of all my subscriptions. We have a spaniel too, she hated the halti style figure of 8 leads. No better on a harness etc. The only thing that works for us is to keep stopping and walking back and then forward again. Until she realises shes not going anywhere unless she stops pulling. Would love to try the huge cumberland sausage! And now keen to try the lake district in our campervan, lovely walks! Take care from susan and chris.

Awww thanks, means a lot ❤️ I think thats what we need to do more of and maybe just go out for training walks, not always the family walks. Very distracting for her and we also can't keep stopping and starting with everyone in tow. Hope you make it up to the Lake District some time xx

There is a reason why huskies were harnesses! A harness on a dog encourages them to pull. With our spaniels we always used a martingale collar.

Great video as always, lovely part of the UK! Thanks for taking me back ... I think the last time I visited was when me and a mate decided to visit Bowness pier one night - it was after midnight when we arrived - beautiful, pointless, great fun! It could have been as late as 1990 ... petrol was cheaper then! I've tried with all 4 dogs that I've had to get them to stop pulling ... the recommend method of changing direction never worked, but I probably got fed up with not making any progress before the dog learnt! It could work for you if you have more stamina than I ... but you will probably need to do it without the kids make progress! I tried a Halti on the 2nd dog (s Dalmatian), he looked so pathetic trying to walk on 3 legs whilst pawing at the Halti to try to remove it (which he did a couple of times, thankfully I had the strap to his collar fitted so he was still under control) - these successes just made him try harder. One harness with the lead pulling on cords that went under his armpits worked reasonably, but he got quite sore so I stopped using it. He was somewhat scatty so training was 90% miss and 10% luck! I have a Spanish Podenco now - long legs and a thin body, so he ends up standing on his back legs when he pulls (he's not clever enough to work out that pulling downwards works, spaniels know this, so I suspect a harness won't help (but does hold them securely, which is useful!). I've also used a Mekuti balance harness - expensive but with 2 hands I was in reasonable control (one hand holds the harness, the other gives 'twitches' to the dogs chest to (apparently) bring their attention back to you. It was quite effective but requiring both hands made it a full time task! Good luck!

I did enjoy this episode but it left me wondering how tasty the Cumberland sausage was and if you cooked it the right way. I am a Kiwi married to an English man. We lived in UK for 10 years and our 3 children were born there. We have traveled back from NZ many times but ha e never seen the Lake district unfortunately. I do like your very informative commentaries so keep them coming! I only follow 2 families - you and one in Australia as I found trying to keep up with mire was too complicated. I am now over the age when travel gets too tiring so now rely on people like yourselves to travel for me. Thsnkyou for taking me to places I have not been abke to visit like your trip to Iceland. Very best wishes from Down Under ❤😊

A front leading harness works for my strong pulling border collie. It has a dangle bit on his chest with the lead ring on it, so the ring for the lead isn't actually attached snuggly on the harness. I can't find it on Amazon, they all seem to be flush to the harness and it is 9 years ago so I can't remember the brand. Look for a couple of inches of a dangle 😂

That electric boat was amazingly noisy. I’m sure that’s not typical, but it’s still not the way forward for boating in general. It works for short hires, like that, assuming there’s enough availability to allow for recharging in between hires. I do like Scotland, but I could never live there. They do Winter properly and I’m just not equipped for that. When I retire, if all goes to plan, we’ll be copying the ducks and going south for the winter. Scotland and Wales will definitely feature in our summer plans, however. The people and the scenery are far too lovely to miss. What’s with the shower scenes in the last two videos, Kiera? Are you just playing with a new waterproof camera, or exploring a new career? Great to see Tori in the sort of places I’d like to go. It was my biggest concern, when you told us you were getting a lorry. How to park something like that, when you’re not allowed in the loading bays.

Those types of leads are not to safe as the lead it’s self can cause cuts if it gets wrapped around you or others, I used a halti collar on my lab to stop him pulling now I use a harness. The lead is connected to his harness and collar and he does not pull. Unless he meets a small dog which he hates or a human which he loves
@TouringwiththekidsАй бұрын
Everyone says about the halti type of leads
@neilmiles9211Ай бұрын
There's a reason Huskies wear harness, so they can pull. Simple slip lead, make sure You Know how to put it on her, there is a right and wrong way. If you need to figure of 8 it over her nose, she will absolutely hate it , and paw at it, she isn't meant to like it, it's cos it gives you back control, and she can't do as she pleases. She will soon learn if she walks nicely you take it off of hrr nose. You get out what you put in. 😉
@darrenj3267Ай бұрын
Lovely scenery, I've not been up there for years. As for the no control extending leads, I hate them with a passion, they should be banned. I don't seen too many times when dogs playing get tangled up and it turns in to a fight that's really hard to separate without slipping the lead off, I've seen toddlers in the park tripped up by dogs on extending leads. And I've seen some serious lacerations / burns when the dog has pulled the lead too quickly. As for your off grid power I'd suggest if you haven't already look to see if it's possible to get an auxiliary alternator fitted, then run two 50a dc dc chargers to your battery bank and with your set up and use I'd suggest at least 800ah of lifepo4 I run 600ah on a 50a dc to dc and 420w solar, even at this time of year I can manage 4 days off grid without needing to drive and I am all electric, so induction hob, air fryer, electric kettle and laptop on 8 to 10 hrs day for work. When batteries get below half I do a couple of 2hr runs on on consecutive days and that sorts em out
