Most roles for Jeffery Combes has him wink at this movie, even in Star Trek we see him at some point using a syringe with green liquid in reference to this, his role has become legend.

Barbara Crampton single handily kick-started my adolescence. Saw her in a new movie a couple of years ago and she is still fine as hell. "From Beyond 1986" is another fun one from the same team.

James, this movie was released unrated in 1985, no one under 18 allowed. I turned 18 a week before it came out and drove 25 miles to see it. It’s in my top 10 horror movies of all time, I love how crazy it is 40 years later.😂

This movie is a live action comic book. The Thing and The Fly are a bit more serious. I'd say this style paved the way for "Ichi the Killer". Over the top silly gore. Don't try to make it realistic, but good enough for story telling fun.

There's a copy of this film out there called the Integral Cut. It's a fusion version which features over 20 minutes of excised scenes (cut from the uncensored version) as well as the uncensored versions of all the gory scenes. It's the most completed and full representation of the movie. It's well worth a watch if you enjoyed the theatrical/uncensored version, as it fleshes out a lot of story elements that are stripped down in the uncensored version AND lets you see the messy bits. It does make the relentless pacing of the uncensored cut a little less intense, but you also get to learn more about the characters and their struggles. Thanks for the reaction James, always enjoy your stuff.

Jeffrey combs has one of the best voices ever put on film. If anyone has seen the new batman adventures of BTAS he played the redesigned scarecrow for one episode and his voice was terrifying. Hes the voice I hear in the comics. Also for any star trek fans, hes played so many characters in that franchise, sometimes multiple in the same series. Also hes great in the frightners

Love it, everything just works - from the gore, the humour, the acting, the unashamedly cheesey campness of it all. Not sure which version you watched due to the edit, but I believe the European one has extended scenes where it explains about the professor 's mind control powers he was using on the Dean and hid daughter, which also allows him to control the reanimated at the end.

Man I am gonna make a recommendation that I hope gains traction, especially if you enjoy Lovecraft: PRINCE OF DARKNESS. Scared the hell out of me when I was 7, and I just rewatched it for the first time at 35 and I can safely say two things: First, it holds up all these years later. Second, it is John Carpenter's masterpiece. Also let's toss a true Lovecraft adaptation: The Color Out of Space starring..... Nic Cage

I love this movie. I remember I checked this out from the public library on VHS when I was a kid, like 14 years old. I was definitely WAAAY too young to watch this movie. It horrified me and probably scarred me for life. But it still fascinated me. I ended up watching it several times. And it led me to watching a whole bunch of other horror movies that I was definitely not ready for. Did that fuck me up for life? Maybe. I can't say. Jeffery Combs is a fucking legend though. I don't know if you've ever checked out any of Star Trek, but in the series Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Jeffery Combs plays several characters, including one of the biggest villains, and he is awesome in every single one of those roles.

Good ol' Brian Yuzna and Stuart Gordon. Horror comedy never knew a more iconic duo. And if you thought the practical effects in this went hard, check out Yuzna's solo joint Society (1989). It'll put hair on your eyeballs. There's a reason the make-up effects designer on that film is named Screaming Mad George.

I was late to the party in watching this film and as a fan of the Frankenstein story/films I am sad to say it. Love the character of Herbert West (played by Jeffery Combs who has been in tons of Star Trek episodes as multiple characters in DS9 and Enterprise, including a voice acting gig on Lower Decks) which reminds me of the Peter Cushing version of Dr. Frankenstein. Bride of Reanimator is not as good, but I still feel it belongs next to this film. Beyond Reanimator, the final Reanimator film, is...interesting, but an even further decline in quality sadly, but I still say check it out also even if only for completionist sake. Fun fact the "hulking zombie" was played by the guy who was Arnold Schwarzenegger's stunt double for Terminator.
