Riley you are my new hero. Although I've never seen people as heroes before. You have made a difference and the Planet thanks you as do I. One point...... it seems difficult not to become an activist if Science leads one to see that a serious wrong is being done. It is what I have mostly loathed about all applications of learning in Universities. Professors hide in their little worlds publishing papers, not to change anything but to increase their prestige an win them Position and some glory. For me such professors I have known are the living dead. They all become gray skinned and lifeless. I've walked the halls of many universities on this planet so I do know what I am speaking of. The other side of this is people needing to take personal responsibility. Why do we kill anything? These creatures don't threaten us, we threaten them and invade their territory. It is up to us to take care. If I know there are dangers in the water or mountains I am careful. I don't go where I might be invading the territory of another creature. Why do people not have the same respect for nature. Would anyone just walk into a strangers home because they wanted to, without an invitation? And if that person was shot as a trespasser do we issue a mandate to kill all the neighbours? As for the soup...... this is simply grotesque and it makes me want to boycott China. The British brought more than one creature to extinction due to their culinary or barbaric hunting habits. I have complete contempt for any human beings who need animals killed to satisfy their appetites whether eating or sexual. How many animals are killed for tusks/ horns because of the ignorant and primitive belief it enhances sexuality. What a pathetic species we are. Maybe culling the human species would be more efficacious. 500 million Chinese would not be missed or from any other part of the world. We have spread like locusts or a rampant virus. In my lifetime since the 1950's the population has more than doubled. No one seems to comprehend what that is in terms of the last 10 million years or even the last 10 thousand years. The tragedy is that someone like Riley has to fight so long and hard simply to get bloody governments and greedy corporations to stop doing something that has nothing to do with human good but only to do with financial PROFIT which only benefits the few.

It seems like fighting for blue fins is a higher priority since their numbered fatalities are significant. But, the culling situation calls for a better solution. Shark repellents? Have there been any tec advances worth investing in? Seriously need a solution. This public perception is important but I can't call for another human or shark dying because we've danced around a real solution
