The maximum speed of the Tokaido Shinkansen is 285 km/h. There are many houses along the line, so I can't run any faster than that. On the other hand, the maximum speed of the Tohoku Shinkansen is 320 km/h. (Green train) In a few years, the maximum speed will be 360 km/h.

The Shinkansen from Tokyo to Kyoto was built in a hurry in time for the Tokyo Olympics in 1964, so there are many curves, and it is not very fast. Japan is building a Maglev Train. That's a speed of 500km.

Welcome to Japan ! Tokaido Shinkansen（Between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka.） is the oldest Shinkansen in Japan. The curve is tight compared to other Shinkansens built later. So it need to slow down on a tight curve. I'm glad you enjoyed the Shinkansen and Mount Fuji.

The speed limit between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka is 285km/h, so although the performance of driving at 300km/h is possible, it is not possible to experience it. If you want to experience 300km/h, you need to take the Sanyo Shinkansen running between Shin-Osaka and Hakata. The "Hayabusa" and "Komachi" bullet trains from Tokyo to the Tohoku region run at 320km/h between Utsunomiya and Morioka, and are also recommend.

A couple of weeks ago we were on the train Kyoto to Tokyo when, while stopped at a station, a yellow Shinkansen sped through the station. It is a six car testing train that lolhas the potential of over 400kmph. There are two sets and they are called Dr Yellow.
