Taking the Crosstour on an off-road adventure|Jeep XJ tags along

Taking Mia my Honda Crosstour on her first off road adventure. Met up with a Jeep XJ and sent both of them through some bumps and dips.

Loved my 2013 cross tour . Ended up trading it in for a Tacoma because I needed to tow more. That cross tour was a beast towing my little teardrop camper and the limited off-roading I did with it. Very underrated car that they should have kept making

Yeah I hear you I love this thing! I have an 03 Tacoma but it’s red lol. I actually want to pick up a hitch for the Crosstour so I can tow my motorcycle. That would be pretty awesome.

I installed an Eco hitch on mine. It’s tedious because you have to remove the rear bumper fascia and cut it a bit. I used a dremel tool to do it. But it looked clean and you only saw the receiver box. The wiring harness for the 4 prong trailer lights is also plug and play. I believe it’s behind the drivers side trunk trim behind the tail light

@@sdoismil that's the thing a lot of people don't think they look good but I think they look sleek I like the MDX rims on yours. I wouldn't of thought about rising it I thought about dropping it through and changing exhausted for a bit more aggressive sound. not sandbagged btw that's silly.

@@aaronhageman9064 those wheels are from the wife’s RDX but they are aftermarket. Motegi MR139 I believe with the KO2 tires. Yup I thought about lowering it too but if I lift it won’t have to worry about the roads haha. I also have magnaflow mufflers on it, I have a video that I do some revs and the newest video I posted I do a few take offs if you want to hear it👍

I have a 2012. I upgraded from the stock 225 60 18 to 255 55 18 big difference in handling. There are some good all terrain choices bfg all terrain nitro terra grappler. I found a 235 60 18 Atturo blade xt . I went with an 18x 8 wheel spreads the tire out and the offset comes out at the fenders vs sunk in on oe wheels

That’s awesome!!! The wheels I have now are 245/65R17 this wheel and tire combo I put on the wife’s RDX so she wants them back! I did buy new wheels for the Crosstour so I just have to get tires. I was thinking about picking up the Nitto Terra grapplers most likely in the same 245/65R17. What offset are your wheels!

@@sdoismil 18 x 8 +40 stock is +45 the .5 off makes noticeable difference.

@@charlesmccaffery6074 awesome! The wheels I have now are 17x7 and I think also +40 and they also fit really nice! The new wheels I got are 17x8 +38 so hopefully those don’t stick out a good amount 😁

@@superjeffstanton haha just saw your comments lol. Yes those are 17x7.5 +40 had to look them up the other day for someone. I actually have new wheels in it now I have Fifteen 52 wheels 17x8 +38. Tires are the same size 245/65R17 BFG k02s. Hope that helps and I’ll have to do a video with the new wheels lol

So I installed that svcm tuner and had it for about a year. I needed maintenance and had a code for the thermostat. I told my buddy to disconnect it and he actually got rid of it lol. I just recently installed the vcmtunner 2 and have heard better things about that module. It’s been a few weeks and so far so good. I’ll try to post a new video of the Crosstour soon of things that have changed. Hope this helps lmk!

@@sdoismil I had to disable my vcm. I used the vcmmuzzler 2 I think. I have not had a problem from 100k to 174k now. Great car.

I was just about to buy a 2011 crosstour as my first car. So glad to see it being used functionally!! Question though, did you ever find the rear mirror to be “difficult” to see through and dangerous when you’re off-roading or even on the roads for that matter?

Thanks! You won’t be disappointed! To be honest you get used to that rear window. With the seats down you can see better from the bottom glass tho.

Yes that’s what I want to do! It’s mostly just a body spacer lift! Check out HRG Engineering they have a couple lifts for the Crosstour

When I go to HRG Engineering the descriptions all say "For Off Road Use Only"... does that mean anything in particular or are they just doing that for legal issues? Thanks! I have a 2022 V-6 Crosstour and would love to lift it so I can do some light off roading and remote camping. Cheers!

Yup that’s mostly for legal issues, like a lot of performance parts say off road use only. I actually picked up their 2 inch lift kit but have yet to install it! Wish you the best of luck and enjoy!

Those are BFG A/T k02, they are from the wife’s RDX but I recently put new wheels and tires on the Crosstour and I went with the same tires! The size is 245/65R17.

Do you know why my cross tour is sputtering? Lotta hesitation when accelerating once I get over 40 miles an hour and smooth I change the plugs.

@@sdoismil yes! I need to replace the cat. That will be done tomorrow. I've gone through the car pretty thoroughly timing belt serpentine belt oxygen sensors plugs. And 1 cats will be done tomorrow.

That’s a good amount of service done! Could be that a cat is clogged. Hopefully it works out after tomorrow and the Crosstour will run much smoother! 🤞

@@sdoismil another quick question does the spare tire have an air pressure gauge in it?

I’m going to say No! I have actually never seen the spare for the Crosstour haha but I believe it does not because if it did I’m sure it would be reading the tire pressure and that would have definitely turned on the light a few tires and that means you would need to get to the spare to put air in it. Every time my tpms light comes on I just check the 4 tires add air to the one low and then the light goes off. Hope that helps 😊

In this video it had stock suspension, I think the bigger tires made it look lifted. But a few months ago I did do a 2 inch spacer lift with new wheels and tires. I still have to record an updated video 😬😬

Haha the crazy part is I had an XJ that I put a 3 inch with 33 inch tires and I never took it off road! Then I get the Crosstour and I do this haha! Most likely in the future just goin to take her on some trails, I do have an urge to get another keep but we shall see😁

I overheated lock diffs doing donuts in parking lots, scrapped my gaz tank racing a gd boat like it was a sports suspension, etc. Its all good buddy it was just ARG to watch lol

@@sdoismil if youre interested there is a way to increase the torque split so that the rear gets more power for better offroading. Imagine a subaru awd system but with a honda v6 vtec engine. Damn. A manual would be the cherry on top.
