XelaWash, what a great job you did identifying some of the cool features of this overlooked gem of a car. I'm adding this comment, late to the party, to help anyone who is considering purchasing a used CrossTour. This is an absolutely amazing vehicle. Either you like the look, or you don't, or you don't care; Frankly, I really like the bubble look of this car. I'd encourge anyone to stick with the 3.5 Liter V6, J35Y engine. At 70 mph with cruise, I can get 30 mpg but usually I'm about 20 around town and 27 on the highway for mpg unless I'm on trip, cruising on the highway and then I'm pushing 30 mph. For me AWD is the way to go. I've made a number of mods, mostly cosmetic but one very rewarding mod was replacing the rear sway bar with one from an Acura AWD TLX, which was substantially larger in diameter. This eliminated the understeer I was experiencing. My guess is that if you bought the 4 cylinder, FWD version, which would be lighter, you wouldn't need to do this. And you may not be as fussy about handling as am I. I've always chased handling rather than speed, as this is what makes the car fun to drive on a curvy road using the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters. Many parts are exchanageable with the Accord, many are not. I look at new cars every day and just can't find any car out there that I'd rather have than this one. The primary reason this car failed as a model is that people couldn't get past the look; but if you focus on the utlity and think of it as a "jacked up accord with AWD and a hatch" you will not find a better value for utility. On a prior car, I had 236,000 on this version of engine and transmisson when I got rid of that car, for other reasons. I had zero issues with either the engine or the transmission, changing oil every $10,000 with Mobil 1 and transmission fluid every 100,000 miles, along with the timing belt (very important with an interference engine). After the current insanity in the used car market dies down, if you can find a 2015 V6 EXL with AWD, think hard about getting it. And, like always, have fun and stay awesome.

I appreciate the comments. I currently have 230k miles on my 2011 and it has been very reliable to date, which is due to the first owner keeping it up so well, then I did my best to keep up the maintenance as well. Just trust yourself while you’re testing the one you’re considering. If some doesn’t seem or feel right, question it and be willing to scrutinize it. Trust your gut 👍 If you decide to purchase it, consider biting the bullet and having a Honda dealership go over it to tell you the things it needs to have done and be willing to spend some money getting it up to specifications. That way you’ll be able to feel confident that it will remain reliable during your ownership. Good luck and consider going out Facebook group Crosstour Nation. Loads of good info in that group 😉

@xelawash Жыл бұрын
Wow..that’s a tough decision. If it were me, I would go for the least expensive option, especially if in great condition, but I would recommend the 2014 because it has a six speed automatic with sport mode and the proximity key is cool. You dont have to use the key or the fob to unlock the door or start the engine while the proximity key is in your pocket or purse. There are also a bunch of other upgrades the 2014 has over the 2010 (too many to list) and it has fewer miles. Unless you’re not ok with spending the 21k, I suggest getting the newer model. I hop that helps…

I just bought a 2012 Crosstour V4 with 89kmiles. When do you think I have to worry about the timing belt
@xelawash3 жыл бұрын
Honda recommends timing belt changes at 100k, but the age of the car can also determine when you should have the timing service performed. With your car being 10 years old, now is as good of a time as any. I held off on doing mine until there was 150k on mine. Probably should have changed it a lot sooner, but decided to roll the dice and wait. The cost is $1200-1500 depending on where you have it done, but I recommend only allowing a Honda dealership perform that particular service.

So I have a 2011 crosstour and the road noise I get is horrible even when I bought new tires what can I do for this love this car but the interior road noise sucks
@xelawash2 жыл бұрын
What’s up Brandon! Unfortunately, the road noise is a bit loud in Crosstours, but Michelin tires are great for quieting down the sound. It sounds on the second push. If it doesn’t, then try these steps 👍 Horn Operation You can program the remote transmitter to have the horn beep when you lock and unlock the doors. It will beep once when you lock the doors, and twice when you unlock them. To turn this feature on and off, press the OPTION and LOCK buttons at the same time for two seconds. If you are turning the horn on, the remote transmitter's LED will come on for one second. If you are turning the horn off, the LED will blink twice. Release the buttons after the LED goes out. The horn feature will be off after you install a new battery in the remote transmitter. Use the above procedure to turn it on again.

Would you recommend this car for a 1st vehicle im currently trying to decide between a 2010 crossroad or like a 2013 Hyundai Elantra
@xelawash2 жыл бұрын
What’s up EJ. I bought mine in 2018 with 98k miles on it. It now has 210k miles and has been solid, so yes I recommend it for a first car as long as the one you’re looking to buy hasn’t been poorly maintained by the previous owner. If you know anyone who has a great eye for inspecting preowned cars, I advise you to do that before committing to a purchase. I always tell anyone buying a car that is 10-15 years old to be prepared to have some maintenance or repairs done to it, shortly after you buy it. It’s inevitable that it’ll need something done when they’re that old. It may be inexpensive or pricey, but either way, it’ll definitely need something done, so be prepared for that. Good luck on your purchase and thank you for the question. 👊

@@_PARADOX_Fy ahh lol yes, well I can tell you that it’s been an amazing machine. Man I love it more and more each year and wish I could keep it for another 10 years (although I know that’s unrealistic due to parts availability) The list of pros would be long and, as far as cons, that list would only contain my dislike for the annoying, occasional vibration that occurs when accelerating between 20-40 mph( which I eliminated from mine by installing a S-VCM module that prevents the car from deactivating 2-3 cylinders when driving at low speeds) Now mine stays in 6 cylinder mode at all times. Other than the cylinder deactivation, which is designed to save fuel (so annoying 😖), the Crosstour was one of the most intelligently engined vehicles Honda has made, in my humble opinion. I LOVE IT!!!

@xelawash3 жыл бұрын
Hey Sparkle! That sounds like the perfect one to buy. The most important thing you will want to immediately prepare to have performed on that vehicle, if you decide to purchase it, is the 100k mile service. Since it’s already 10 years old, I wouldn’t wait for it to reach 100k because it’s already so close. Age and/or mileage determines when certain services should be done. The MOST important aspect of this service is the timing belt. 105,000-mile service Replace engine oil and filter Rotate tires Visually inspect front and rear brakes; Check pads and discs for wear Visually inspect calipers for leaks Visually inspect wheel cylinders for leaks Visually inspect tie-rod ends, steering gearbox, and rack boots Visually inspect suspension components for damage; Check ball joint boots for deterioration and damage Visually inspect driveshaft boots for cracks, and check boot bands for tightness Visually inspect brake hoses and lines; Visually check the master cylinder, proportioning control valve, and ABS modulator for damage and leakage Visually inspect cooling system hoses and connections for damage, leaks and deterioration Visually check all fluid levels, condition of fluids Lubricate all locks, latches, and hinges Check parking brake adjustment Visually inspect exhaust system (catalytic converter heat shield, exhaust pipe, and muffler) Visually inspect fuel lines and connections for looseness, cracks, deterioration, and leaks Check operation of all lights and controls, check headlight position Inspect the vehicle underbody; Check frame and panels for damage Fuel injection service Cooling system service Replace spark plugs Check idle speed Replace timing belt, if applicable Replace outer belts Visually inspect water pump Clean & lube caliper slide pins
