It's nice to see old people not vegetating on their couch watching tv. Thanks man

Love that bike! And jealous of the rides you have up there!

I'm converting my hardtail 29 inch along the lines of a Fargo. My bikes geo measurements are very close to the Fargo. Finding myself doing rides of up to 50 miles on rough tarmac and dirt roads so a Fargo style of bike might work going by what you said about comfort. Of course the sensible thing would be buy a new gravel bike but.... they are more than twice what I paid for my almost new hardtail so decided to repurpose what I have for now. Enjoying your channel Thanks.

happy to see you embracing some path riding! I've definitely had to rip more paths and city riding this summer than usual cuz of that dang rain...and it's just been great! Makes me appreciate the dirt when I get it!! Hopefully you snuck some off camera bandits in where you could ;)

If I ride pavement East there are fun bandit trails. This direction doesn't have much.

I have a 2014 Fargo before they expanded the clearance to 29x3. It is a forever bike to me. I have done a bunch of bikepacking with it. I don't think I would be interested in towing a trailer for bikepacking...seems like more potential for failure. I am taking it to Kansas for a bikepacking trip in Oct. This would be good new content for your channel.

I would like your opinion. I want to build a salsa fargo with a flatbar. I am 170 cm(5'7") tall, and my inseam is 78 cm(30"). Do you think I should choose frame size S or M? Thanks. Greetings from Hungary.
@ShadLifeАй бұрын
Those are the exact same dimensions as I am (5' 7" with 30 inch inseam) and I ride a small and it feels perfect. If you go with a flat bar you might want a slightly longer stem. It depends on what body position you are looking for. This frame has a more traditional XC reach (think 2000s). So run a 70mm or 80mm stem and then choose what rise bars you want for comfort. I would likely run a 30mm rise bar with a 70mm stem if I went with a flat bar on mine.

Nice bike. What pedals are you using? I am looking for some dual sided (flat/spd). Shimano makes some as do a bunch of cheaper knock-offs, ranging from $34.00 - $80.00. Not sure if price difference for Shimano is worth it. I have a Marin Nicasio and love it, but sometimes I don't want to be clipped in with special shoes.

Hi Shad, how do you like those tires for mix surface road/gravel use?
@ShadLifeАй бұрын
They are pretty decent. I run them around 40 PSI on pavement and they still roll pretty good, but certainly nothing like a road bike tire. I run 25 - 30 on gravel and they have gobs of traction and stability.

How it ride on pavement? Looking at this but it it’s really for only for rough/off road I’ll look elsewhere.
@ShadLife12 күн бұрын
It rides fine one pavement. It isn't as fast as a regular road or touring bike, but it is extremely comfortable.

Is the Fargo worth the extra cost as compared to the state all road?
@ShadLifeАй бұрын
It depends on what you want to do. The Fargo is a lot more versatile because it can fit 29er wheels and tires up to 3.0. The Fargo has better quality tubing and has a Carbon fork. You can get a carbon fork for the State 4130 All-Road for extra cost of course. The drivetrain and brakes are much better on the Fargo as are the wheels. So yeah, it's worth the extra money but not necessary.
