I thought I was a FG, but was feeling uncomfortable in my clothes and then recently realised I am actually a SN! No wonder I feel so relaxed and free in baggier things and draped clothing. I had been wearing high necked FG tops and I felt strangled! It can be so hard seeing yourself. My daughter said "mum I have known all along you look relaxed, a bit sporty and kind of hippy! You look nice in things that drown me!"
@franibeard4 жыл бұрын
Hey there! Appreciate your insight! I'm very comfortable wearing FG lines, but I'm always cold, so In the winter I wear more oversized pieces. So fun that you can chat with your daughter about these things.
@BlackbirdLilian4 жыл бұрын
That's actually so funny, because I thought I was Soft Natural, but the clothes drowned me and I was SO uncomfortable until I found out I was a Soft Gamine. I excluded all Gamines first thing, quite ironically. Am now as comfortable as ever.

Oh my gosh I have this same problem! I keep getting SN and FG whenever I retake the test...The thing is I actually hate the SN style and FG is too small for my broad shoulders. Thank for sharing this because now I am thinking I might neither ugh. so confusing.

I really liked how you described your face structure and contours! Which after closer inspection, are similar to mine. Similar eyebrow arches, eyes shapes, cheekbones and jawline and the flesh on them. However, my forehead is shorter, my nose is rounder and wider, and I have a hint of cleft in my chin. My hair is wavy, thick and coarse in some places. Thank you! Very helpful.

I really want to hear what you have to say about height and vertical line! I feel there is a lot of confusion in the Kibbe community about this. Based on personal observation I don’t think height is quite as important as some think, as I have seen people who are taller than average but appear to be Gamine types as they are overwhelmed by longer lines and/or draping oversized styles.

I love how you really focus in the system and try that everithin fall in place. The hair part is gold, and not force the yang and ying you read perfectly the way the yin appears in your body. I'm soft classic so my ying could be a million things but overall is controlled and learn that took me ages.

Funnily enough, I'm forever struggling with my facial flesh and nose. It doesn't matter too much, as I can only be flamboyant gamine, but still. I think flesh can be difficult because most women, unless they exercise quite extensively, are soft. All women, from pure yang to pure yin, have some softness to their flesh because they are women. Yin flesh, however, looks so different to yang flesh despite this! My cousin is 100% Romantic and her flesh is visibly soft and lightweight. My friend, who is as Natural as can be, has flesh with more...weight...to it. It's hard to describe, but one really can see a difference. I do quite like how you describe your facial flesh.
@franibeard5 жыл бұрын
Oooo interesting insight! You really do have to train your eye to see the differences.

@@franibeard Certainly! And then being able to describe what your eye sees so that others understand is a new challenge. I reckon that's why so many find Kibbe's descriptions confusing.

We are very similar! My bone structure is slightly more yin and my flesh too making me a pure gamine/mixed type. And yes! Greek/roman statue nose. I have always described my nose like that (hardcore A) and people always found it weird. Nice to hear someone else explains their nose like that! I also have some kidn of slight bump on my nose bridge in profile, right under my eyes. Like the bone suddenly starts getting a lot more prominent there. Oh and my hair is C. Slight bend, not pin straight. Kind of fine-medium thickness. I have relatively a lot of it though (like, plenty of individual hairstrands). I never really paid much attention to hair because it's a tricky to tell, but I understand it better now.

This was super helpful! I've never read the book, and so I'm thinking I should. Here are my answers: 7 Yang answers, 8 Yin Answers, 1 C answer (There was an even split between A and E) ; So I'm not sure if a standard, run-of-the-mill gamine exists, but I'd be her. Knowing this breathes a lot of enlightenment into my style choices over the years- and makes it so much simpler to adapt my style.

I tested first as a Flamboyant Gamine, but most of the style advice didn't work well on me. (Some of it does, but I will get to that in a moment.) I retested and came up as a Soft Natural, which I find works better with my shape. BUT I find that I can mix and match both Flamboyant Gamine and Soft Natural styles without any issues, and that that is my best solution. I am too extreme in features to be a classic (your test sounded a lot like mine, except I answered Bs when you answered As), so I can pull off baggy styles others cannot, yet I can pull off more dramatic elements of a Flamboyant Gamine which I shouldn't be able to do as a Soft Natural. I'm quite fair, but I look best in dark colors as opposed to pastels, which is the Soft Natural leaning for color pallets (pastels can wash me out). I cannot wear heavily contrasting clothes, bold patterns, or super geometric lines and patterns because they totally wash my face out (FG staples). The description of a FB's weight gain matches me to a T, but the overall structure matches a SN. What I've come to realize is the type of clothing I wear will determine whether or not I can dress SN or FG. My legs are very wide but boney, yet fleshy in the thighs and short. My arms are very long and narrow (again, like yours). My face is similar to yours but lands almost exclusively in the D's (but my hair is pin straight). So I am a combination that you would find in a Gamine, but because my face is mostly D's, my flesh and structure are mostly B's, and my legs have more of a D leaning I cannot rely completely on the styling tips given to either type. Natural lines are my default (generally) and is the way I lean when it comes to one-piece outfits like dresses. Because different parts of me lean one way or another, when I dress in separates I can play with the yin and yang to dress whatever way I want. Basically, I'm a Soft Natural who can add a bit more pizazz to my outfits than most. :) Loved hearing you take the test, it reminded me a lot of my own answers.

Sometimes I wish I was a gamine instead of a theatrical romantic because it seems so much easier to look casual and fun. I feel like I look best when I wear outfits that look serious, sensual, and moody and require a lot of effort but sometimes I just want to wear a t-shirt and some cute trousers and sneakers, dang it! Haha. I guess we all are always trying to love ourselves and it’s a long journey. 😊

Kibbe is so confusing to me! I initially thought I was a Soft Natural but I have a longer vertical line. Natural and Flamboyant Natural have the long vertical line but not enough softness. Maybe Dramatic Classic? Nope, DC clothes look WAY too stiff and tailored on me. Soft Dramatic? I feel like I have the soft facial features and the long vertical line, but I’m thin so I don’t quite have the hourglass body. I feel like SDs and FNs are super tall and SNs look too short and I’m just in the middle at 5’7”.

Brandi Davis Have you considered soft gamine, or maybe, still, soft natural? Remember that this is only one of the many questions on the test. Just like how Audrey Hepburn is a tall flamboyant gamine, even though they are stereotypically not; or how Lily Cole is a tall soft gamine, which is usually the “smallest” body type, and they “won’t” be tall. Are you familiar with Merriam Style? I think her channel might help you a lot!
@starminoui5 жыл бұрын
Isabella S I do watch Merriam! I just have no idea how to type myself lol. Gamine lines look awful on me, like everything is too small. Out of everything I have tried I am probably either a Soft Natural or Soft Dramatic but it’s hard to type myself.
@franibeard5 жыл бұрын
You may be soft natural like you initially thought! Soft naturals can definitely be a bit taller, in my opinion, because they have yang in their bones. At the end of the day, what matters is finding the clothing that looks best on you and makes you feel beautiful. So taking height out of the equation for a moment may help you settle on soft natural lines.

I followed everything in the video and here are my results. body bones: classic or yang c- 3 b- 3 a- 1 d- 1 (vertical line) body flesh: C (balanced) when fit, when overweight, b but I don’t have an elongated torso but it is straight and is first to gain weight… so maybe b. I have a short torso or a balanced length waist for my proportions. 5’ 3” when fit I think I am c. facial bones: yin e- 1 b- 1 d- 3 facial flesh (balanced c) + hair (Yin d) total: 6yin 5 yang 5c

@@sarahs.9678 She does look lovely every time, that's for sure. The wider neck lines and the less tight tops are soft natural. Gamines wear higher neck lines and tighter clothes. Authentic by Frani @Flo Oracle I’ve heard other Kibbe people describe how secondary or tertiary types can be channeled by each because of the similarities some share, for instance if I want to feel more modest, cutesy or casual, I can pull certain SG elements in my case as a TR, or how D’s can pull from FN elements when they want to feel more soft, etc. I’m not sure if this is from Kibbe but I let myself enjoy different types lines and elements when I want and found it to be a pretty good overall system of variety. And at the end of the day, we can do whatever we want and just enjoy our beautiful God-given bodies and personalities as we move along on the journey of life. 😉
