I have a model A roadsters pick up that I helped my dad put together in the mid 70s with a flathead v8 and 4speed. Years later he gave it to me for my 30th birthday. Seeing your maiden in this truck brought back alot of memories. I still have the truck and in March I will have had it for 30yrs and I still love it. Thanks for the memorias, and keep up the good work. Love the videos and info you and your guys put out there. Thanks.

and to think only a few short months ago, this was nothing more than a mess of nearly forgotten, unrelated parts, a crazy idea, and a guy who had an overwhelming desire to drag it out of his head, and bring it to life in the real world. it brings a smile to my face, and puts a song in my heart just hearing it run down the road, engine misses and all.

Awesome job on the truck , gents ! What a difference from the rusty parts hauler on bare wire rims you hauled out last Christmas . It's quite the evolution to a running , driving , V8 powered truck . As with anything put together from numerous parts & modifications , some fine tuning is required to "tweak" it in to a fine running , fully functional automobile . All things considered , to just have a little tuning to do on the engine , you did quite well ! "No death wobble" is a very good thing ! Loved the transformation on this one , it really looks & sounds nice ! Hope you do well in the wheels of time show !

I was watching an old B&W movie from 1953 starring John Ireland called The 49th Man. In the opening scene there's a kid in an AV-8 RPU, very much like your shop truck (except with a louvered hood top, no sides) rodding hard on a New Mexico twisty two lane mountain road. He wrecks the roadster and a few minutes later in the protagonist, John Ireland, is talking to his rodder buddies to learn more about him. In that scene there features 3 trad hot rods from '53: an AV-8 hiboy roadster, a track T with a Cadillac engine and the main car, a '27 channeled roadster with Deuce grill, WWWs and a beautiful full-dress Flattie. They are only short scenes but are a great look at early '50s hot rods, the kind we love. If you get a chance check it out. It's on KZbin, just search The 49th Man 1953. Very much admire your channel, shop, mission and talent. Cheers!

Hello Matt and Steve , good job on getting the P U on the road , she's looking sweet . Perhaps you could do a hot rod 101 on what it takes to get a bitsa car registered for the road in the US for your overseas viewers . Do you have to take it somewhere where it's independently tested for brakes, steering, suspension and lights etc . Here in the UK we have to jump through loads of government hoops and roadworthy tests to get on the road . Hello to Mike as well .

@@IansGarage I was wondering that . I watch too much YT , mostly US content and the condition that some of the cars get driven beggers belief . For their own safety and others . I believe some states don't even have an annual roadworthiness test .

People in America would loose their minds if they had to go through an M.O.T. . I was an automotive inspector and customer got mad because I failed their car for bald tires , worn balljoints , and bad brakes .

All we did to convert was just swap the housing with the field windings. Use the 6 volt armature and each end of the 6 volt generator. 12 volts after swapping the regulator.
@papaClutch4152 жыл бұрын
Is this true?
@robertcross74182 жыл бұрын
@@papaClutch415 Yes. Did it twice. The windings in the field coils is more for 12 volts then for 6 volts. Just change the regulator and polarize for neg ground.

I think the more the truck is driven the better it will run. I know when I let my truck set for a few month's switching to my other car. Then started to drive my truck after setting for a few months it felt stiff until I drove it for a few days to brake it back in. My truck was my daily driver drove that truck for 14 year's never ever left me stranded. Ran when I sold it the guy couldn't get his money out fast enough.
