@@margochanning6868 which ideology? So is holding any ideas, considered ideological now? I think you're missing the point. The point is not "toss out all your feminist ideology, toss out your leftist ideology", the point is that you can't allow yourself to be wrapped up in any ideology that it inhibits your ability to think critically.

Right? There is so much bullshit competition among women. We all need to just band together. Even with the women we disagree with, the worst type of women. We just need to agree to one thing. We are women. I can't believe we can't even do that. We know what's up. We need to keep saying it.

Me, too. Although I think in 10-15-20 years from now, there are going to be a LOT of seriously messed up young adults who's parents transitioned them at an early age, putting them on puberty blockers, changing them physically/sexually for life. I believe it was Dr. Debra Soh who stated that most children who think they identify as the opposite sex grow up to find that they actually just gay.

Losing friends was the hardest part of questioning gender. There is a geek community I can't be a part of, an activist community can't be a part of, IRL friends lost from social media connection. The sudden realization of how misogynistic all the people I used to enjoy spending time with was very depressing. They can't see anyone who says things like "Title IX needs to remain sex based," or "Women have a human right to male free spaces," as anything less than hatefully transphobic. I've come to the realization I don't really like them, either, though. When I say "Male bodies in women's sports isn't fair," they say 'That's exactly what people who didn't want racially integrated sports said: "Black bodies in white sports isn't fair."' That really deeply annoys me. Because it's so not comparable. Or when I talk about 80% of of GNC being proto homosexuals, and how they are supporting gay eugenics in supporting transing kids, they dodge my very salient point with accusations of ulterior motives: "You don't actually care about gay kids, you just hate trans people." Well shit, how to you prove a negative? When they believe what they are saying so deeply (conveniently this is almost entirely men talking this way) I might as well be arguing with them over the nature and the number of the sacraments. Total waste of time.

It's so great to see the depth of conversations happening, perhaps more so now that the shallower platforms (eg Twitter) are trying to shut women down. I am relishing listening to deep, interesting, challenging discussions and part of the joy is vehemently disagreeing with things that are said sometimes and having the chance to form an argument instead of shouting into an echo chamber. At a time when it feels as though discussion and "debate" has died, I am so pleased there are people who want to actually have difficult conversations and explore these topics. Exactly. The fact that our words have been taken and redefined and even those in opposition of this fascist totalitarianism use the words almost instinctively is dangerous. I am not a cis woman. I am not a natal woman. A person born w/ a penis is not a woman. When I hear women use "cis" to talk about their privilege, I get angry. First of all _what_ privilege?? Secondly, how is it that you've allowed a man to tell you what you _have_ to identify as, yet when you state that that man has a penis & can therefore never be a woman suddenly you're a bad, evil, transphobic person. So they can define us using made up words that don't really exist, but we can't state facts??? It's all very Orwellian.

I live in Chicago and immediately thought the Smollett case was bullshit. It was below zero at the time, Smollett was in a wealthy neighborhood that in my experience doesn't see a lot of foot traffic from people that don't live there, and Chicago is decidedly not 'MAGA country.' Plus, the idea that two racists would know who a D list actor on a TV show about the hip hop industry was? Patently absurd.

And I’m not defending her actions because she has said some pretty despicable things, but everything she says is monitored under a microscope. Like Dunham, I believe the universal dislike of Banks is also a lot about her appearance, but it is more so about her race than her attractiveness. As much as I love my city I hate how ridiculous things are becoming. I mean there's always been over the top movements that I thought were goofy, but at least I could laugh them off. These days I'm not laughing so much. It seems like everything that people here valued, as well as ideals this brand of identitarian activists claims to value, are being hurt by the movement just as they are everywhere. The diversity of opinions is what I find to be the most valuable ideal in a community. This ideal has fucked right off. That said, the everyday people I work with and deal with aren't the cliche super left weirdos that seem to be stealing the narrative. But I can certainly see it's effects and many friends of mine have bought right into it without so much as taking 5 minutes to look something up. This lack of nuance in thinking, which isn't new in the way people approach socio-political issues, has seemed to drastically worsen. I don't know where all this nonsense started or why this particular, and incredibly pedantic, movement around identity is so strangely militant and close minded. But I fucking hate it.

I'm not in college anymore (I'm knocking on dirty 30's door) so I can't personally relate to what's going on there. However, after hearing from some students they'll tell you how when they get to class instead of getting right to work everyone goes around and says their preferred pronouns. WTF? Can you imagine paying an arm & a leg to get into college & spending 30 minutes of a 50 minute class hearing people do some snowflake shit like say what made up word they'd like society to refer to them as? I get some professors don't mind the usual icebreaker (name, where you're from) but even still we're not here for that and I damn sure didn't pay tuition for that. Let's get to work. Just b/c you want to be referred to as a girl doesn't mean I'm obligated to play along w/ or encourage your mental illness, especially if you have a full beard, chest hair, a voice deeper than Barry White's and look like you just got back from football tryouts. Absolutely not sir.

Also, one thing I've noticed is that *ALOT* of LBG want absolutely _nothing_ to do w/ the T (Search- "Should the T be removed from the LGBT?" on DebateDOTorg among other things). They don't speak out though unless it's behind a computer screen & this will only hurt them. I think the majority of us who are not in support of the T, have no problem w/ LBG but if you all refuse to separate yourselves and make it known that the blatant patriarchy, misogyny, & pedophilia agenda of the T is absolutely wrong & should be stopped, then unfortunately in our efforts to dismantle their fascist totalitarianism you all will absolutely have to take a hit.

Transitioning is never something to be treated lightly and oyu have to make damn, DAMN sure that it's the right move for you, or you risk doing irreperable harm to your mind and body. For some people, it really does lead to a more balanced and happier life, but for others, you end up feeling just as alienated, or worse. It's terrible that you can easily be called a transphobe just for urging caution in treating it lightly.

"It's hard to publically admit we made a mistake, it's hard to publically admit we were wrong" Meghan Murphy, incorrectly speaking for Katie and others. Talk about problematic, wow. Bravo to Katie for pushing back and correctly pointing out that your credibility increases when taking responsibility for your mistakes.Quite the sad commentary that Meghan blurted that out with such confidence. However, Katie's compassion for "those blue check mark aholes" who unwaveringly and blindly believed the Smollett hoax story is certainly troubling. That aside I really enjoyed Katie's perspective in this interview. She is very articulate. ✌

@@meghanemilymurphy I quoted you verbatim and just watched again, so no, I did not misunderstand at all. In fact, it is more troubling after the 2nd viewing. My comment was obviously based on your exact words yet you felt the need to attempt and shift blame by saying " I think you misunderstood." You just unknowingly solidified my point, not that I needed more proof. Why is personal accountability so hard for you here ? People who worry about repercussions of being wrong or speaking truth because of how they're perceived are always the least authentic.

It really sucks if a human being came to the conclusion that they needed to transition and then later found out that was wrong. WPATH, the worldwide professional association for transgender health has setup some really good guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of trans people. Of course this is done by humans and cannot be perfect. I feel for this persons experiences, but I also want to stress that this is a minority experience (which does not make it less important, but indicates it is not representative of most trans folks). Keep on keepin on folks :D

It drives me nuts when people on the left assert that the right has no intellectuals. Not every right winger is some knuckle dragging troglodyte. We've got, Edmund Burke, Russell Kirk, C.S. Lewis, Garet Garrett, Frank Chodorov, Ayn Rand, Isabel Patterson, Rose Wilder Lane, Hayek, Mises, Rothbard, Milton Friedman, Roger Scruton, Paul Gottfried...to name a few.
