Just incase you still don't understand the orbs: the Orbs give you a debuff when they land that makes it so you take more dmg from the next orb. So the plan is that one immediatly gets exploded by not standing in it and the other gets staggered till the debuff runs out then you move out rinse and repeat till the fight ends

Yea. You will always take damage from both. The mechanic is to space them out so you don't take it too close together while you still have the debuff.

@@confirmkill And to be precise, the debuff last for 4 seconds. What i do (since playing a demolock this mechanic usually is my duty) is to just stand in one puddle and then basically stay in there till the end

Orbs used to be a LOT more dangerous at all key levels. The debuff would cause the next explosion to do 250% more damage. Now it just increases damage by 70% which trivializes mistakes provided they don’t keep happening all over the fight.

@@BloodqueenLeonie it’s not the damage. Damage from healers hasn’t been a key limiting factor this expansion at all. Rather each season it’s been about mana efficiency, throughput and group buffs. If you look at any key pushing group what they’ll talk about is that they have the damage, but eventually just reach the point where they can’t survive the key.

As a quality of life tip for the Warlock pet being dismissed at the start of keys. Use fell domination during your countdown before you activate the key, the buff carries over and it makes you able to insta summon pet right as it starts.

the cast time for summon a demon is not over 10 seconds. When you put the key in and the mist wall is up you have 10 seconds to do anything you need to do to gain more damage. Every single time i useally soulwell > hardcast summon demon I still have 4 seconds at least to do anything else.

Besides the not pressing Grimoire of Sacrifice throughout the video, you honestly did quite well for never having played (besides the like spamming unstable affliction but you acknowledged that so it's completely fine.) On AoE especially low keys all you really need to do is: Seed of Corruption > Unstable Affliction > Vile Taint > Soul Rot > Seed spam, and on low keys the pack should just explode. (Especially with the Soul Flame Talent where everything just explodes on death) In the above rotation you would use Darkglare after Soul Rot if you have it, but honestly with the talents you're running that expects you to be using the new tier Darkglare is pretty much a glorified DoT extender rather than a big damage cooldown like it was last tier with Neltharian trinket. As far as single target goes (that's honestly what I'm better at) Just get used to full dotting and keeping them up before worrying about anything else. Remember Malefic Rapture does more damage per DoT on the mob so maintaining the DoTs is the priority. Once you get that down, the key opener should be: Haunt > Unstable Affliction > Agony > Siphon Life > Corruption > Soul Drain to 3 stacks of it's buff (name is escaping me sorry) > Vile Taint > Soul Rot > Darkglare. Now it is a long list, but just remember all you're really doing is going down the list of your abilities and just pressing them one at a time. As far as shards go, just spend them more often. For most of the clips in the video you seemed to be sitting on 5 shards. Just spend all but one of them. because you don't have a designated builder and its more just chance until execute you wanna make sure you're not wasting a shard. But try to keep 1 at all times just in case. Especially if you're in Raid Setting and playing with the Dread Touch talent, as keeping that debuff up will be most of your damage. I am the worst explainer in the universe but I hope that some of this is understandable. Hope to see you succeed on what I think is the most fun spec in the game.

Swap SR and VT in your opener, with the current tier set, SR is a longer DoT. You'll have a longer burn window with Rapture spam, because it's preferred to have as many DoTs as possible.

I've been playing Mage in Dragonflight and I raid lead as well. Been talking to my melee raiders about how much more friendly melee is this tier than pretty much any other time I've seen in WoW. Haha yeah, it looks like we (melee) have it much easier this season, not sure about other seasons though as I never play ranged. @Dillisan the orbs on chronolord are simple. One person runs out right away, the orb hits and soes damage, the other person stays in until the debuff drops from the first orb, the runs out. It only hurts if a second orb lamds before the debuff clears. The dbuff increases the damage you take from the orbs, so you just want the second orb to hit after the debuff falls off, which is 4 seconds long.

Warlock main here, Gate & Circle are incredible utilities that can skip certain packs in dungeons or help you reposition quickly. Some examples are putting your circle behind a wall or pillar to dodge LoS mechanics or avoid mob casts such as the grip from those mobs in Throne. Another way to use circle is to break roots & slows such as entangling, you don't even need to use soulburn to break entangling, which will save you a GCD & a shard.

Gate can be used to skip the last set of bears in DHT & that dragon after the second boss in Fall or used in Throne as you double back on yourself there. It's nice to help you avoid mechanics aswell or just as a movement ability between packs.

One affliction newb to another, I suggest to take Grimoire atleast in the early dungeons, because of the whole pet shenaningans, and because, unless you actively need the interrupt from the felhound, the 10% extra damage just seems to do wonder.

Affliction has some amazing entry burst on big packs. Focus on finishing pulls with 5 shards, haunt, unstable, vile, soul rot and start blasting seeds. Ofcourse in lower keys youll still struggle because of the setup globals but affliction does have really solid burst aoe. Probably the best of the warlock specs. Good stuff though

As affliction you get a fantastic bonus of not having to play a pet - summon the felhunter and then hit him with your grimoire of sacrifice, you get to keep the interrupt and then your abilities have a chance to do some additional dmg - no more wondering why your kick didn't go off because the felhunter is running across the map :D

It's probably already been explained since I'm 7 days late, but when an orb in Rise hits the ground it does a group wide AoE and leaves a debuff that makes any other orbs do more damage. Standing in the orbs slows their falling speed, so one person moves out to make that orb drop quick and the second person stays in the orb until debuff clears so the second orb doesn't do a ton more damage.

You want to make the no pet weak aura bigger and in the middle of your screen. The orbs in rise are easy, the one who stays in waits until the 4 second debuff drops off then moves out.

Never played Aff lock before, decided i wanted to lvl and alt and honestly, for leveling out in the world i feel like Aff is the best spec of any class. I can gather a whole zone with agony, have voidwalker tank them when they get close and once they all group up i just seed of corruption which blows them up and they are usually all dead after that. Compared to leveling as most other classes/speccs, this was best, 2nd for me is havoc DH

Fyi for everyone. As an aff lock, when moving its almost always best to reapply dots. This just saves globals later, and can make sure you have high timers on them to pump when you stop moving. The only possible exception is if youre running pandemic invocation, where you do a small amount of dmg when apply dots under 5 seconds remaining. Honestly though, even in this case i think the saved globals end up being a higher amount of dmg. Also corruption always does a small amount of damage when applied. Its really not much but when there is nothing else worthwhile it can allow you to do some amount of dmg while moving.

If you use Soulburn first, your gate will be cast instantly instead of having to wait. Warlock is my main and I love it but I agree I’m tired of players telling me what to do and when to do it. Like I’m aware of how to play my class lol. Enjoy Warlock as they are very fun and tanky!

Mythic Raider here, as someone who helps people in heroic guilds that are either on my btag or I’ve just met in keys and enjoyed playing with them, you are obviously miles ahead of the majority of heroic raiders. ElvUI and Weakauras are not things many people run in these guilds for whatever reason, so I will say regardless of how bad you felt you did at affliction early on, you still are probably miles better than quite a few who use nothing at all, even at 420-430 ilvl. I’m sure since your main was 3071 when u showed it, that obviously you have a bit more of a high end content tendency than you may even realize. This was some nice content, keep it up!

One other minor detail in case other people in comments may be wondering, Mythic raiders may seem intimidating if you are only in normal/heroic, but tbh they are least toxic community of WoW players I’ve come across in my 14 years of playing the game. Everyone is too busy doing their own thing, researching fights, playing other games, etc. to really care as much about performance. An anecdote from earlier tonight: I was pugging a Black Rook Hold 17 on my 3014 io warrior, which I’ve timed 24 Tyrannical Throne of the tides and 24 fall on, so those are displayed on my io. All of that was on arms, but fury is better so i swapped to that. I had no issues getting an invite, but the group leader, a havoc DH, who had 17s timed but 1400 io, presumably a new toon, was gatekeeping people and being genuinely elitist for his key. I understand havoc is FoTM right now, but to be honest, he declined a 465 priest with like 1700 score paired with a BM hunter 477 who is like 2700. He cited that the priest had only done 13s and he didnt want a player like that in his 17. Fair enough I thought to myself, so imagine my surprise when this 460 DH did 35k on bosses and 64.7k overall on the key. He/she was an absolute carry, and has no business attempting to gatekeep anything, but alas, thats the “tryhard” range it seems like. Anyway the TLDR of this is basically, mythic raiders and high io players aren’t scary and if you run with them you should ask if they’d like to do more content, or just chill and do some other keys, because a lot of us don’t really care as much about anyone else’s performance as much as our own as long as you aren’t super toxic. Who knows, you may even learn something to improve your own gameplay :)

Hey. Thank you for taking the time to write these comments, I very much appreciate this and I'm glad you enjoyed the content. I've played on and off since TBH have mainly been a Heroic Raider, I dipped into Mythic in Season 1 for the very first time just to see if I was capable, turns out it wasn't much different and I performed very well. But since Season 1 where I dipped into M+ for the first time (properly anyway) and this channel took off, I have stopped Raiding so much and focused on M+. I've tried staying away from Elv as much as I can but I much prefer it over anything else. Personal preference at the end of the day. Everything else I use is what helps me, such as WA's and the soundpack that comes with it announcing me to move, stack, adds etc. This helps massively due to my ADHD and poor focus at times. I actually replaced the sounds and asked my 8 year old to record replacements, they are SO MUCH better than the robotic defaults (made available to my Patreons & Twitch subs for anyone wondering!). Like I mentioned in the video, this was my FIRST day playing a Warlock let alone a button bloat spec with with a playstyle that's incredible different to anything I've played for the past 15 years. I am closing in on 3.2 on my Havoc Demon Hunter which I've mained since Legion, I'm no FOTM player and have played it regardless of the meta. I've timed a couple of 25's this season so far and everything else is close behind so I have some experience. I put myself down and make fun of myself in these videos for entertainment purposes mostly but to also highlight mistakes that could be sued as a learning experience to someone else. I don't consider myself an amazing player and I'm fine with this, but I'm way above average and sometimes I forget this. I don't care about the meta and like to give the player a chance, more players should do this too. My M+ team consists of a BM Monk, a MW Monk and a BM Hunter. Whilst those specs are doing great this season, last season was far from it. We've timed some 24's without an Aug Evoker this season but we do feel the difference at that level and pushing higher we'd almost always want one. Everything else we can somewhat make work and everything is viable to my key level, but meta will always be a thing. There are some friendly players at the high levels but there are also some incredibly toxic players at that level too, so I wouldn't personally say it's less toxic at a higher level, there's just less players at that level. The last part resembles something I also mention from time to time. Playing with players better than you is great (for me at least) cause it makes me push harder and you can learn so much from them. I've done this with the team I put together, they're all far better than me as a player (imo anyway) and I've learnt so much since I started playing with them. But it's also nice to give back and be that guy, help others when you can and I do this a lot too. Anyways, I'm glad you enjoyed and I appreciate your comment

I appreciate the thought provoking comment here, and I think one other thing people don't think about a lot is many of the very end game players have played for a long time so there is a deep experience pool compared to newer players. I have played since TBC for instance so the knowledge I have of the game is very old, compared to a player who started in SL or DF, the game sense will always be something that can't be taught. However, this is why, as you said running with players better than you is beneficial, because it can teach the newer players proper play and break bad habits. I raid 5 days a week atm, my main guild just killed M Smolderon last night, and they are all far better players than I am but I have learned so much from them since joining in S1 of DF for VoTI. My weekend group is also a mythic raid team however, they are far less progressed as they have less time (6 hours vs 12 hours a week) and while many of those players have past CEs and Hall of Fames, they have ended up moving on in life and taking a more casual approach while still wanting to mythic raid. Surrounding yourself with as many good player perspectives as possible has been my personal key to improvement, since I consider myself significantly better than I was in Shadowlands or BFA for instance.

I just did an LFR raid for the first wing of Amirdrassil. Been getting back into tanking and I didn't do too well tbh. Got a whisper telling me I should unalive myself and just stick to watching others play. Easiest report of my life.

As affliction you should be sacrificing your pet for the extra damage. I believe last season they changed how sacrifice works so you can do it before the key and you keep the buff. Just make sure you key bind the pet kick as you gain that ability

You can Macro Soulburn and Gate together. So you will have your instant gates as long as you have a shard. Also get the gate control toy so you don't have to click the gates. Don't forget that Death coil isn't just a fear. Its also a solid heal. So using it on mobs or bosses is a great way to pump some HP back in. Vile taint is great for opening on trash then seed spam usually 3 or more mobs you seed if I remember correctly. Meh your getting it. I honestly don't enjoy aff after playing Spriest this expansion. Aff lock needs some serious redesigns to make it play more like Spriest's. Quality of life improvements are seriously needed with the spec.

I very much appreciate your input, some of what you've said I'm now aware of as this episode is a week behind and episode 2 has already been recorded. Hopefully next week you will "some" improvements xD I stand by my statement in being the worst designed spec for M+. But in higher keys I think it can do really well. I very much agree on a redesign if they want it to be suitable for all styles of content.

Yes I have experienced the toxicity you saw but not as a warlock, if you pug keys as a tank/healer you get stuff like this daily/every 1-2 runs depending on the level your playing at (I run 20's on my main for context). I think its a consequence of the pug life. People have no filter and only see their team mates as a means to an end for the content they are doing, very little social respect. I admit being someone who pugs this, I had to accept it/learn to be a little bit thick skinned as I have the experience/maturity to admit when I made a real mistake vs someone being toxic. Don't let it get you down, only way it will change is if the reporting system is improved - Maybe something us all as a community can help raise awareness for! (its automated from what I can tell currently which isn't helping us). Subbed as love the video :)

That sucks and I'm sorry you have to go through so much of this. I've pugged quite a bit on some of my characters, I encounter quite a bit of toxicity in terms of flaming and leaving but nothing like that raid on the Warlock. I'm cool though, I didn't let it effect me like it could have. Appreciate the love on the video and glad you enjoyed

It's a personal opinion based on it's playstyle but the population of the spec kinda backs me up along with it's performance. I would love to see some form of rework and make all specs somewhat viable for all style of content but the reality is, that may never be possible. Thank god I don't have balance anything lol

@@Dillisan i hop between Aff and Shadow a lot. i could tell you before i even watched the video that Aff's core issues are that it takes too much setup and you lose too much single target speccing into M+ build. Devs keep buffing it but aren't fixing the core issue.

What? I love Afflication in M+. With the 4er Set Boni and Doom Blossom, Seed of Corruption deals a Tons of Damage on the Trash. Together with Vile Taint and Soul Rot pretty funny.

the two soaks in the end one should just explode right away,. the other you can move out when the debuff is dropped off they always hurt but they hurt a lot when one goes off with the debuff still one the debuff is only about 4 seconds or so.

I love the "you'll see a lot of mistakes throughout this series" commented on top of a clip of an entire dungeon without sacrificing the pet with grim sac. ^-^ Edit: I just noticed that you didn't use grim sac the whole video. I'm sure someone else has mentioned it but affliction runs a talent called Grimoire of Sacrifice (over on the right side of the spec tree). cast this to kill your pet and gain their ability (kick from felhunter normally in dungeons). instead of your pet attacking, it just procs damage while you use abilities. The hidden benefit of this is that starting a key will not remove the buff associated to sacrificing your pet. However, you will need to resummon it when you die. ON THAT NOTE. you can use the spell "fel domination" every couple of minutes to giga-speed up your pet summon cast (like down to 0.5s or something). This is great to use after you get battle rezzed or if you realize you forgot to get your pet/grim sac out. It's super janky, but if you get brezzed you're gonna hit "Fel domination", "Summon Felhunter", "Grimoire of Sacrifice" then go about your business. I love aff lock whether it's bad or good. as a Rogue main it's the only ranged class that feels somewhat familiar to assas. Excited to see your progression! Affliction doesn't feel too terrible right now but requires some very big pull on very high keys to really ramp up the damage. and the single target is pretty tragic. Buff coming next week though!

Oh it doesn't end there haha. Like I said, I have no idea and it shows. This makes the curve or progression and success that much better imo. Yeah I'm hoping higher keys make this spec feel so much better and let's be honest, a good player can play anything to a decent level, Aff included :). Oh I saw these buffs and got really excited! Time to dominate!

Also for orbs: 2 orbs go out and start crashing to the ground. standing under them slows them down. When an orb lands it does some damage and applies a debuff to the whole party that increases damage taken from orbs by a LOT. So you let one land right away. you stand in the other one to delay it until the debuff falls off then let it land. you actually did it correctly on almost every orb set except the one that killed the healer. you'll always take damage from the orbs but the standing in them you did saved a lot of damage on the group.

I noticed after that the Druid was actually doing a good job on most of them. The Druid was a returning player and did great, stuck with me for a few. Rise will be my new enemy :D

I'm a warlock main and do my weekly 20s as Affliction for fun. Is it as good as Demo? No. But it's not that bad. You could be doing quite a lot more damage with the proper talents and rotation. And you can pump bosses on tyrannical with Dread Touch and Tormented Crescendos.

I typically only PvP but my 2 friends started playing again and they only PvE. So, I thought it'd be fun to tank the dungeons for them. Can't tell you how many people flamed them in low keys for low damage, or left a key because they died once. Now, we are up to 15's and just this week, a healer died once and left. Again in the 14, a dps died and left.

lets be honnest. im pumping with my affliction lock somewhat above 170k overall in 25. keys.. i mean. the adds live longer there. makes sense to me. dots on adds that live like 4-5 sec dont make sense. instead just put up agony and seed the whole time. with shadowflame talent on low keys. does more dmg in addpacks.

25:40, you want the orb debuff not to stack. Ie one stay in, the other go out -- the one that noone is in will drop to floor, give everybody a debuff. If the second orb hits during that first debuff, on higher keys its an instant wipe. So you want the second orb to drop after the first orbs debuff has worn off. So just dont stack the debuffs - nothing more. As you see in 25:58 you moved out when the debuff had 3 seconds left, you should've stayed 3 more seconds before moving out.

Playing a warlock reminds me of the way crests are set up. You need 15 to upgrade, but you get 12. You need 3 soul shards to cast a spender, but you get 2. Then while you’re waiting for the third, you proc 4 more so you’re over capped. That was my limited experience with one, dropped it pretty fast lol
