Was it originally a comic? I was confused about that
@Penelopelu_3339 күн бұрын
@@Lillyjoy I believe it was originally a novel, but it had a different cover. It was also split into different books. Then when it was created into a comic; it becomes more popular. They redesigned the cover and/or perhaps changed the actual novel to make it clearer.

Your video is the first to talk about the library in another country. I'm sure others have and I just miss it. So I'm curious how the libraries in South Korea are. I live in a small town in the US and our library is also the community center of our town. So you can get books, community events, and support services like food pantry, lunch for kids, different games and class for people to enjoy. I thought it was interesting that the library was in the mall. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas.

As a Korean, I really enjoy reading Korean books and I think it's really interesting to see the difference between Korean novels and American novels/English books. High-five sister-friend on account of the not being that into graphic novels because you want to enjoy words or art but doing both to fully experience a narrative is hard b/c of impatience! Even when I used to "read" super hero comics (Alpha Flight, Wonder Woman) or cartoons in the newspaper (Garfield, Brenda K Starr, Cathy), I looked at the pictures and didn't bother reading the thought bubbles. There are two graphic novels that I *have* been able to enjoy very slowly by allowing myself to look at the images first and then read the text: The Harlem Hellfighters [Max Brooks (writing), Caanan White (art)] and It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth (Zoe Thorogood).

That's funny I just put Under The Oak Tree novel version on hold, it just dropped at my library and everyone wants it lol. I saw the manhwa floating around digitally and everyone was going nuts for it, but I'm knee deep in like 5 different manga series so I put it off, the novel version works perfectly because I go back and forth between graphic and regular novels. Hopefully it lives up to the hype.

So I think under the oak tree was a web novel first then a webtoon !!! 🤔 Because actually a very big number of webtoons are based on a web novel now ! (Usually you can see when it's an adaptation because it has a writer and an artist in the credits (not always sometimes it's original duo but yeah)) When I research about it I hear people saying the novel is more far ahead than the webtoon

9:16 I'm the same way!!!! it's soooo annoying. I live in France, and other than Korea and Japan, France is like one of the major countries for comics and graphic novels (I've even been to the graphic novel museum in Angouleme, where at their university there it's one of the few places in the world where you can get a bachelors and masters in graphic novels and comics, design and writing, lol). But me, oh gawd no, I can't do it, I love looking at the pictures, but I've never been able to follow along with the dialogue in them, my eyes get all twisted, and I'm sure I have some deep seeding prejudice that I may not have acknowledged, maybe I'm acknowledging it now, lol, that only certain people read graphic novels and comics, I know that's not the case, especially with the younger generations, and having lived in both Korea and now France. I really feel like that form of art/literature was actively mocked when I was growing up in the States, especially in the 80s and 90s, as being childish and if you still did it as an adult there was something seriously wrong with you, so I stayed away from it and because of that I lost the eye training to follow it. But man, here in France, the amount of graphic novel and comic reading is on par and rivals Korea and Japan, and some of them here are sooooooo beautiful, like the novel retellings in graphic form or the history books in graphic form, I could just buy some for the art, but then I'm missing half the point.
