What the shelter employee said was so correct! One night, is such a game changer for shelter dogs, I volunteered for 300 hours last summerr and the behavioral change can be so drastic its really sad. Im so glad for Roscoe, every dog deserves what you guys did for Roscoe.

Keep it. The Varathane reminded me of when I was a kid in Orange County in the 70's. You couldn't just go to any store to buy a skate board and we would cut out pine boards and do the best Varathane coat we could to make a cool skate board. I remember trying to find a skate board one summer in Portland, OR only to discover they were illegal in that city because of the hills. The things one remembers...

Taku! you need to add some 45 degree corner knee braces, or gussets, or corner blocks, or something to those strengthen those weak butt joints on that rainwater storage stand!! that stand is on uneven ground and will be holding 100+ of pounds of water. those joints will fail faster than you think. Then, strengthen those joints, if you want to take it a step further, take a minute to level out the ground underneath and put it on some pavers to keep the wood from rotting. you'll get a few more years out of that stand with another hour worth of work. also you have to pull himalayan blackberry from the root to keep it from growing back. dig it up with a shovel if that's what it takes. and just take a circular saw and shave off a 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch off the left side of that under stair bar top. no one is going to see the faux marbling that's up against the wall anyway.

I think you are suppose to take a wire brush to the wood after you've burned it to expose more of the grain and also remove the char dust that will come off. We did a project like this in woodshop class in high school. try it!

I think for anybody adding a pet to their home there should be a consideration and a plan for travel and emergencies. I have a border collie and two cats. It has taken me awhile to get a pet sitter who can come in and stay with my pets when I travel. I also have a pet sitter, Plan B, in case the Plan A sitter can't do it. It's also good to have a network of friends that can care for your pets and ... you can do it for them. It is a very good idea to get your pets used to car travel in case for some reason you need to leave quickly. For that I have my cat carriers, pheromone collars, cat supplies etc. My dog goes everywhere with me in my car so she's good.
