Yeah. It sucks when others don’t agree with a simple living choice. I also think We’d be very lonely is we all mind our business. It’s ok to have some conflict in life. Look how much Linnea grew from this. Just saying. Life doesn’t have to be smooth to be enjoyed, but it does have to include others and their freedom to choice what they think is right.

40 acres and neighbors are STILL a pain??? It's like it's impossible to move far enough away from the cancer of society anymore! I truly believe that this Karen of a neighbour is just completely jealous of your life and possibly even watches your videos and that neighbour is a very nasty miserable person and lives a sad life and wants to try and take you down. Just remember you change those type of people and don’t allow them to take you down other level. I hope that neighbour sees these comments and remember you’re a horrible person for being a Karen!!! How dare you call on such a beautiful person like Linnea . Bugger off and leave her alone and just because your life is a sad one doesn’t mean you need to try and ruin another persons life!! Live life to its fullest Linnea and besides that one nice man neighbour who has helped in the past don’t trust anyone. Pretty sad that someone can live on 40!acres and still have a nasty Karen of a neighbour!!

As someone who moved to a more rural area to get away from so many rules/regulations and ended up with a nosy neighbor who has threatened to call the county on me, I am so sorry to hear you're dealing with this. Not sure where your set up is on your property in relation to neighbors, but I would look into putting up no trespassing signs as well as some cameras because unless where you park is in line of sight of your neighbors, it is quite possible your neighbor trespassed onto your property to see what they could report you on (my neighbor walks onto my and our other neighbors' properties all the time).
@karagregory6917 сағат бұрын
Add water to the tank. My neighbor put in a new tank while building a house, and since the house was not lived in, the no water was used or went into the tank. There was a lot of rain and the tank floated on top of the ground water, rising out of the ground. Run your well and put a few hundred gallons of water in the tank so it has weight so don't float if ground water raises during a rain storm.

I was reported for something too and I can so relate to what you were feeling at the start of the video. Turns out the person who reported me did me a huge favor and I've reaped the benefits from fixing the issue ever since. I learned a tremendous amount going through the process. A Professor at a University once told me that my story I shared online about my experience is now required reading for her class. So honored and I think this video should be required viewing for anyone starting a building project. Taking many pictures along the way saved us so many times when the inspector questioned our process after everything was buttoned up or covered, I could say, oh wait, I have a photo, we don't have to open that wall back up!

Nice work! As a single woman homeowner, I learned how to drive an excavator when my sewer line collapsed 2 years ago. I had an awesome community who helped me know what I could do on my own, taught me how to drive the mini-ex and lay pipe, and came to my "shoveling party" when it was time to fill in the trench (and I was too cheap to rent the excavator again). To this day that's the home project I'm most proud of (even though it was the most stressful as well!). Be proud of how you tackled this project and built community along the way!

So sorry to hear that about a neighbor. My husband and I owned a camp in upstate NY near a lake. A true camp, no running water and an old holding tank that was built with railroad ties. Not unusual from the 1930's. We hesitated to get a holding tank installed, but went to the town and got a permit to build an outhouse! I filled that outhouse with lavender bundles! So thankful we got the permit when I went to sell it after my husband passed away. Be well and never allow someone's negative comments affect your decisions.
@reidcrosby62418 сағат бұрын
Those "rules" are typically handled within each county and they vary greatly. In my location we looked for remote land and found out there are ALL sorts of details even within remote areas. Little details like "if not subdivided after 1970, and more than 10 acres off grid (outhouses) and gravity fed (non mechanically pumped) water supply is acceptable" . That caveat also permits you to "not need" to apply for a permit. In that county churches are even permitted to have outhouses (and do)
@thepolkster4613 сағат бұрын
when you install the septic tank , make sure to fill it with water so it doesn't float out of the ground. If you have no water source, have the local volunteer fire dept make a "Fill run" for a minor donation, but do not leave it empty, a hard rain will make it pop out of the ground like a bobber on a fishing line while breaking the input lines and output connections.

I think it's important to note that "you" are not wrong, but the system is "wrong", and as much as we try to be alone and independant and live in the way we feel is right for us and our relationship with the Earth, ultimately we are still all here together and sometimes we have to adjust to a backwards system. I bought a property that had been a rental and the first thing we did was cut down the weeds. in less than 9 months we got a complaint because we uncovered a pile of trash that was hidden by the weeds. So in the process of cleaning up the trash, we made a pile. Before we could get a dumpster to put the trash in one of our new neighbors complained. Lucky for us the county inspector was a nice guy. I am not sure if the neighbor knew we bought the place but no matter it was very painful knowing we had that kind of neighbor. No welcome to the neighborhood. No conversation to find out who we were or what the plan was. It was good to find out what the rules are but I would rather just have had that conversation with the neighbors. Just remember there is one of those in every neighborhood.

Your willingness to tackle absolutely anything is wonderful. I love that you “showed” the neighbor who instead of meeting you and finding out what you’re about and your plans for the land, chose what I think was a backhanded way dealing with something. My guess is they assumed you didn’t have the money for a septic and maybe hoped it would force you off the land. Ridiculous. Of course I could be wrong. There will always be people who make something their business that is NONE of their business. Sure you want to abide by county regulations but it would have been nice to do it on your own time..within reason of course. It’s not like you’re on a city lot, 40 acres is big! I’m glad it’s done and you have that behind you. I hope this won’t keep you from making it to see family for the holidays, which I think you had planned. Take care, awesome job!!

I was thinking the same thing. They wanted to run off the new person from out of town.

Where we live you cannot get your water hooked up until you get a septic and they approve it. They all have their hands out for their part. Don't you just love folks who think their business is messing in everyone else's business? Have a wonderful and blessed day!

You are the gutsiest little lady I've ever known!!!! I'm so proud of you, and I hope that the person who reported you for not having septic before you even begun building your house has major septic issues in the future! hahahaha Anyone who lives close enough to you has to know you are a hard worker and rule keeper, so I do not understand why a neighbor would rat you out. Oh well - it's done and you can be button popping proud of yourself!!! I'm so grateful to Chris and his wife for checking on you - I know how grateful you are for them in your life. You'll be able to do something nice for them one day. Merry Christmas, Linnea and Akela! xoxoxoxoxo

The fact that the tank in underground, how is it that they were aware you didn't have one somewhere under the ground? Now I understand why people have high fences

Your abilities to handle challenges are such an inspiration. Rather than rail against the issue of someone reporting the issue, you met it face on and eliminated the stress. Thank you for sharing the reality of owning land.

The people that reported you for a (malicious reason) will pay deeply for their error in judgement. As we know what goes around comes around. They could have approached you kindly and just shared the septic laws in case you didn’t know, instead of their nefarious intent, and you could have actually made a friend🤦🏼♀️ That being said, I am happy that you took the bull by the horns and showed everyone in the county that you ARE THE REAL DEAL and respect the process! BRAVO MY DEAR❤ Enjoy you holiday✨🙏💯🎄🙌

What an accomplishment Linnea!!! I think your friendly neighbor did you a service by being a tattletale, even though he could have handled that much better, you showed him and yourself how strong you really are!!! I don’t know what happened to our communication skills with some today, but we need to get it back!!! I loved growing up where neighbors took care of each other always!!! I am extremely proud of you young lady, I bet we all are!!! You are surrounded with Love here and with most of your neighbors and community!!! I started singing “I am woman hear me roar!!” Lol…. You are an Amazing Young Lady!!! Way to go Girl!! With much respect and love!! Enjoy your Christmas and Happy New Year!!! Stay Safe, Be Prepared and Be Well!! ✨🕊️✨💖✨🙏✨
