I've used this Mic for live music concerts. And it's been great.

Matthew Livingston what type of music? I’d be worried about maxing it out.

My Takstar is way muddier than yours when unprocessed. I find that 10 db boost adds more hissing to the audio. Thanks for the tips! I've been trying to find a good tutorial on how to process sound and this is perfect!

You are very welcome, thanks so much for watching and commenting. If you have any questions or suggestions about the sound processing or anything else you see in my videos, just let me know. 👍

I use this mic and it works great. Better than many at a higher cost

This microphone is perfect for recording professional musicians in live shows, recording professional actors doing monologues and interviews with me talking behind the camera. You can see all my work using only this microphone doing all of these activities on my page. The Takstar SGC 598 is superb for the price and the work I have produced has had no criticisms with regards to the audio recording. Tip for recording acoustic live performances is have the 10bd boot switched off. That is the middle button. I always have it down / off as this significantly reduces any hiss. It however I an doing a two shot from a distance it works well with all three buttons switched to the on / up position. An excellent mike and you can see the various different jobs I have used if for for yourself. Hope this helps as this microphone is excellent value for money.

For the price it actually is really good. I am pretty amazed by it and for the price.

I think it sounds great compared to the Rode VideoMic Pro which is a lot more pricey though I would be concerned about the shockmount handheld for mobile vlogging.

Hey man, this might be a stupid question, but for the low cut filter which position is “on” or “off”? I’m assuming since the rest of the switches are on when up that it’s the same with the bass filter. But my boss who’s an audio person told me his guess would be the opposite based on the line symbols

"Hot shoe microphone"... Umm, not the one I bought. It's a "cold shoe" device. It is not powered or sync'd to the camera via the shoe, but rather, powered by a single battery and sync'd via the camera via the 3.5 mm adapter. :-)

Great vid but I can’t seem to fit it onto my cannon 200d. I’ve managed to unscrew the mount but for some reason still won’t fit. Is it just me lol or does it not fit on a cannon 200d. Any help please? !
@McIntec6 жыл бұрын
Strange, unless you got a defective mic. Is it that the square shoe won't seat properly in the shoe? In the video I mounted the Mic on a microphone boom, I adjusted the screw on the mic mount to fit snug in the boom mount.
@Kiki1244-g5s6 жыл бұрын
McInTEC hey thanks for replying! I managed to unscrew it in the end! for some reason it was screwed together wayyyy too tight. I ended having to heat up the mount to help with eventually unscrewing. I used a lighter and hair dryer. Apparently not the only one who experienced this!

I really need this mic for a distance of 6-8ft have you tested it that far away??
@henrycolestage76504 жыл бұрын
The farther away you get it will be worse. This is really designed for about 18 inches. You can stretch it to 2-4 feet in a quiet space but you have to speak up to be heard. For any kind of distance, you need a VERY good shotgun mic or, better yet, a lavalier setup. Something like a Rode Go but you can spend less. Remember, you generally get what you pay for. Best of luck!

How do I get better audio from when talking from behind it?
@McIntec5 жыл бұрын
If you have it mounted on a camera and talking behind the camera, mount the mic to face you.

McInTEC I film cars tho? So I need good sound from talking behind it and infront and can’t be changing the mic round every two mins...

Great video, thanks very much. I bought the Takstar but haven't used it yet on my Canon D70. I've been debating loading Magic Lantern on it though but really really want to!!! Any quick thoughts on M.L for my D70 ?
@McIntec6 жыл бұрын
I would say give Magic Lantern a try. If you are the type of person that wants to expand their knowledge and learn more, give it a try. It unlocked the potential of the camera with extra features you would normally see in more expensive high end cameras. Let me know how you like it. I love it for the fact you can do audio metering and turn off AGC. I also like the features it has for video recording, it has help me learn more about DSLR cameras and some tricks for filming.

Hey thanks bro!!!! I've just purchase the takstar can't wait to use it.. being my first time for movie filming I so appreciate the tips & your video thanks.. too bad it doesn't have headphone output or does it? Plus how would you check your sound levels before using software?
@rahvisionproductionz29296 жыл бұрын
Excuse typo lol
@McIntec6 жыл бұрын
You're welcome. Thanks for watching. The Takstar doesn't have a headphone output. The best thing to do is to set your input low and then talk really loud or yell while switching the 10dB boost. Then play it back to listen for distortion or clipping. You can also use the output of your DSLR camera with magic lantern to listen to the live audio.
@rahvisionproductionz29296 жыл бұрын
McInTEC ok cool that'll work! !! Thanks so much for the love bro
@rahvisionproductionz29296 жыл бұрын
Oh forgot to mention, I have no output, I'm using a canon Rebel T5 only has mini usb, hdmi,remote input & a built in internal mic.. I can probably can only hear it thru play back from the camera I get that part lol
@McIntec6 жыл бұрын
You may be able to plug it into your computers mic/line input and enable "listen playback" in the Sound properties and then listen to it live.

Great video! Looking into the takstar for use in motorsports, I guess $25 isn’t bad to test but I need so,etching that’ll get the engine roar and banshee sounds as true to real life as possible. Hoping this is a good start!

Dude, you might have a fake Takstar. Check online for difference between original and fake. First hint is that the Takstar logo on the front of the box is gold
