Thanks so much! What mic are you getting?
@chazabez2 жыл бұрын
Great little mic for the price. I just have one niggle, the on/off and frequency pass switches on the back of mine rattle. Only a little bit but it still sounds really obvious if trying to use the mic in an active environment. Solved by a applying a bit of electrical tape over them after switching on, but it’s a PITA to do every time you use it!
@ajwilliamsmedia2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm. That’s the first I’ve heard of that issue. I’ve had mine for about a year and a half. Maybe you got a defective one? 🤷🏽♂️

@@ajwilliamsmedia I think that’s probably the case as it definitely would have been picked up on the multiple reviews if a common issue. If it bothered me more I’d take it apart and try and fix, but it’s really not worth the time.

Thanks for your review! Takstar SGC 600 rocks!!!
@AllStarWeldingSC17 күн бұрын
I know this video is a few years old, but I have a situation that I'm hoping you can shed some light on... I have a channel, and I make videos about welding. My current camera doesn't have a mic jack, so I have a new camera coming. The mic jack on it, doesn't provide power through the jack, so I am needing a battery/chargeable microphone. I have settled on the VXR3031 or the Takstar SGC-598/600, mostly based on your excellent review, and also the Synco G1(A2) lapel mics. With my current camera, when I record my welding, I get high frequency disturbance that causes vertical lines on the video. Hopefully the new camera will allow me to step back further and zoom in for the close up shots of the welding. It's either effecting the camera, or maybe it's just that the sensor cant handle the arc, and the AC frequency (50hz to 200hz) switching back and forth (different frame rates). But, on the microphones, do you have any idea, or a prediction, on whether or not I will experience any kind of disturbance (from the welding) through the boom mics, or the Synco lapel mics? I believe the Synco's are the 2.4Ghz. Would I be better off looking at some UHF mics? I'm asking you because you are way more educated on this subject than I am. Thank you for any input you may have.
@ajwilliamsmedia17 күн бұрын
Thanks for the detailed insight into your problem. While I don’t think you’d get any interference with the shotgun mics, I really can’t be sure. The takstar mics have a plastic housing and that doesn’t block external interference very well. If there is heavy electromagnetic signals, the mics may be affected. You may need to go with the MOVO X1 or one of the Sure Shotgun mics. Those both cost a little more, but they have metal housings, so they’ll block EM interference better. They’re still not 100% perfect, so I can’t be certain they’ll work for your specific needs. I’m not sure about the lapel mics because I’ve never used them. I will say that the farther away you are from the mic, the worse it will sound for your dialog, so getting a mic off the camera close to your mouth is probably a better choice.

Best test for metal I've seen so far! Love the sound of this cheap thing. One battery for an entire weekend of continuous recording? You can't beat that. You missed a great opp. to do a 1A audit at the Gulfport police station. Next time consider doing that. Either way, I'm sold on the 600 even though that high pass filter seemed to have little affect. Thank you.

These are going to be a very noob questions, but I got to ask... 1. Can I simply plug the aux cable into my PC 'MIC AUX' Port and start using? I already have a decent webcam, not looking to replace it right now. 2. What microhone arms + adapters would I need to mount this mic to my desk, to go on top of my monitor? So it's not in the frame. Any help would be greatly apreciated!
@ajwilliamsmedia Жыл бұрын
Firstly, I love noob questions, so thanks for asking! 1 - That might actually work. I’ve never done it, but I don’t foresee an issue with doing that. 2 - It has a 1/4-20 thread on it. That’s the standard camera tripod size. Microphone arms usually have a 3/8-16 thread. However, you can get an adapter that converts 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 here - amzn.to/3ih1oAt (affiliate link)

I can’t really tell an audible difference between the two. I like how the battery is easier to change in the 600, but I like the isolation of the mount on the 598. It really comes down to what you value more.

@ajwilliamsmedia3 жыл бұрын
The SGC-600 does not come with a case, but I do still think it’s (mostly) an upgrade. It has easier battery access, the buttons are on the back instead of the sides so you can see the settings easier. The only downside is the shock mount.
