People complaining about the "bad" transitions aren't comprehending the concept of a dj set as a journey. This is about track selection, and where that track selection takes you. Everyone that is just used to back spins and slamming the next track after the drop need to broaden your horizons.

In the depths of night, under the neon gaze of Tokyo's skyline, there is a whisper, a pulse that threads through the city's heart like the very breath of life itself. This is the realm of Takuya Nakamura, a maestro of the modern age, whose hands dance over turntables with the grace of a Japanese calligrapher's brush upon silk. He is not merely a performer; he is a conduit, a keeper of balance between the ancient and the new, between the one record yin and the next record yang, that forms the very essence of existence. As he mixes, he channels the dual forces of yin and yang, darkness and light, silence and sound. His art is a dance of contrasts, a delicate balancing act that seeks not to dominate but to harmonize, to blend opposing elements into a whole greater than the sum of its parts. Takuya Nakamura, we salute you

Some thought that music, djs and producers have an expiration date... well NO, here's the PROOF. I've been listening to club-related styles of music for almost 35 years. The feeling of melomania, it's not about fame, popularity or profit, it's about FEELING GOOD about yourself while playing it. I like the music he is playing. I think I'll take some notes for my collection. It reminds me of some of those Asian djs from the 90s with jungle, breakbeat and certain jazz sounds introduced between the bases. Just like he does. Perhaps, he was the teacher of some of those young djs. Best from PALMA DE MALLORCA.

Just the sonic and rhythmic range between all these tracks and how he weaves it all together is so impressive. How does one find such a eclectic group of tracks? Probably through experience and years of digital and IRL crate digging?
@1ceb0xcfbl Жыл бұрын
Find yourself an online radio station for your preferred music and start listening in your free time or while working. Take notes of the tracks you hear and like. At some point after doing this for a while you will start to mentally match tracks together regardless if they were composed by the same person or not. I do this for psytrance and works but it takes time. But I rather do it this way than rely on someone else's musical tastes.
@thesquee1838 Жыл бұрын
If you don't know about discogs it is a archival and marketplace platform for loads of music, mostly popularly electronic. That is a good place to connect dots together and you can just click around hyperlinks from genre, to label, to artist, to other user lists. Its a good way to branch out and find a lot of stuff. For example the Calibre tracks he plays are on a really good dnb/jungle label called Creative Source, the D'Arcangelo songs are off a label called Rephlex (Aphex Twin's label), the Fluxion tracks are mostly from a label called Chain Reaction which largely paved the way for "Dub Techno", and the Air Liquide tracks are from assorted labels that you can find on there. People spend a ton of time contributing to the platform to create a nice space that you can use and most of the artists or labels he played from are highly regarded and you will be able to branch out quick.
@StereoAnthony Жыл бұрын
It's simply a matter of time. If you spend a good portion of your life listening to music, and broadening your tastes, this is what can happen. What @1ceb0xcfbl said is exactly what I started doing 15 years ago. I've been into music my whole life, but had limited exposure aside from trainspotting djs until internet radio showed up. After finding some stations I really liked, I started taking screen shots of tracks I liked and eventually started tracking them down. I would put the ones I liked in the playlists, and those would eventually branch off into different directions. Thankfully I'm not into vinyl or this would basically be impossible. There is no amount of technology that replace or speed up the human element of listening to music.
