Love the work that you do. Bought a Marlin 5 in the spring, suits my needs.I live rural with a lack of trails, mostly ride gravel or lesser used paved roads to avoid traffic. All of my other bikes have come from a department store, so it is a big improvement.

@@Wireman134 I am north of 60. I needed a fork that does the work so my shoulders don't have to and a better climbing gear than the hybrids offered. The dual sport is a mtb with road tires and transmission, I'm in no hurry. The verve may have a more upright position, but lacks the shock. The 5 suits my needs.

@@TalalipopMTBi recently bought a marlin 5 due to the new gen on hybrid no longer having suspensions which is a must with me maving speedbumps all over the area. Im in need of one more bike for the fam should I move to marlin 4 due to its larger front gear? Or would it make much bigger a difference.

If you got the 7 on sale I’d say that’s a great buy for sure, sounds like it fits for the type of riding you’re doing as well!
@daveg78943 ай бұрын
@TalalipopMTB thanks for the response. I've gotten over 300km on the marlin 7 so far, about 3 weeks in. Still really enjoying it, though I'm still looking at what else I could have gotten lol. The xcaliber is probably more geared towards my type of riding, but the 7 was already a pretty big financial splurge for me, so spending even more was kind of out of the question...

A few details missing.. you mention the cranksets but only talk about the chainrings, nothing about the actual cranks and BB type. Also what about the head tube, tapered or straight? And more details about the skewer/thru-axle? Is this bespoke to the Marlin? Any sign of actual mtb standards here?

can someone confirm if the XXL can comfort a 196cm / 6.5ish inch mtb noob? I used to have a nightmare of an experience buying / finding jeans that fit me, but now finding a bike is the new vibe... I'm mostly interested in hardtail mtb-style bikes, since I ride ina city with awful roads, some very minor offroad sections as well (and no, Gravel is out of the question, there the sizing vs availability nightmare is on a whole other level...). Thank you in advance!

Im 5'4" 140lbs. Unless another style is better for me. I want the wider tires and the 1x gears plus hydraulic brakes.

How do you use the clutch on the, Sram Sx Eagle?
@TalalipopMTB Жыл бұрын
You actually can’t activate or deactivate it on SRAM eagle derailleurs like you can with Shimano. It’s always on, but if you need to service your drivetrain there is a button on the derailleur that has a lock symbol on it, and this can be pushed in to make the chain loose

does it make sense if I want to replace the shifters, FD, and RD of my Marlin 4 to be the same with Marlin 5? is it compatible? sorry for a newbie question
@TalalipopMTB8 ай бұрын
For the marlin 4 and 5 in this video, the marlin 4 has a 3x7 drivetrain while the marlin 5 has a 2x8. That means the cassette and crankset would also both have to be changed along with the derailleurs and shifter to make the setup work. The marlin 4 has 7 gears in the rear freewheel while the marlin 5 has 8 gears, so the marlin 5 derailleurs won’t work with the marlin 4. However, upgrading the freewheel on the marlin 4 to a cassette is also harder, because you have to change out the entire wheel since the hub is not compatible with a cassette. Overall doing these changes would cost more than just buying a marlin 5
