So exciting following your road trip to Alaska. Very interesting that it seems better to drive through the USA instead of driving directly for Toronto to Vancouver and then up to Alaska. So hilarious to see how Bowie tried to defend you at the border. Awesome that you are able to spend the night a a Target parking lot. This isn't possible in Austria. Already very exciting to watch the next episode!

It was great to see you visit my home state...Iowa...a real Mecca of American culture. I was sad to note that you stopped by during Spring which means you ad to miss one our state's favorite past times...watching corn grow. It is also a state whose people have no accent, unless you live below highway 30. South of highway thirty, folks start picking up a southern accent from Missouri. The big difference is that folks in Iowa wear shoes. If you ever travel through my area (Waterloo), you have a standing invitation to overnight where you are welcome to top off your water, charge up your electric, and use my driveway for a quiet, restful sleep...and you have use of my entire home...ma casa es tu casa! I think it is a good idea to have one or two homes you can call your own with folks you can depend on if you need assistance. By the way, the truck stop you visited is about an hour and a half from my front doorstep. Well, take care, be safe, and I loom forward to traveling with you to Alaska. A god friend of mine worked as a news director for National Public Radio up there...he loved that state. Just remember, if you go for walks in the wilderness up there, do not forget that there are critters that could ruin your day...wolves, bears, snakes, and the occasional moose on the loose. Of course, coming from Canada, you probably see these creatures as a matter of routine. Take care, Roger

Grew up ravelling the Alaska highway. Check in if you need any information on great places to check out. Only advice is fuel up whenever there is fuel past Ft. Nelson. Make sure you got to Liard hot springs...the best as are natural. Not many stations open anymore and at this time of the year. You must go to Valdez AK and Talkeetna, my fav places there. Hotsprings near Fairbanks are great too. Enjoy!!! On way back if need a place to park in Grand Forks BC, let me know. We have a donkey park up right by highway and border crossing. Could go for great rail hike!

You must put the van on the Alaskan ferry and go through the inside passage!! So fun! We put our Winnebago on the ferry with our dog staying in it, while we cruised the same route as those pricey cruise ships!! Such a cool experience! Check it out!!!

It may be long but the sights are great especially going up the Alcan. Drive it a lot from Whitehorse YT to Vancouver. We have gone all the way along the Alcan to Fairbanks, Anchorage and Whittier. Enjoy your trip.

you girls allways make me smile. be carefull out there. i used to be a trucker iowa 80 was a favorite stop, you should tome a trip to go there during there big truck rodeo its a massive trucker party and everyones welcome. love bowie hes so freaking cute i used to take my schnauser on the road with me and sammy was so much company. take care of yourselves and make sure you get plenty of supplies before you head up to alaska its not an easy drive. love you all

Just an FYI, from my experience hauling cars back to the states from Woodstock, Cambridge and Alliston, it’s like 10 miles further to take 402 and cross the blue water bridge at Sarnia and the crossing is much easier, plus you don’t need to deal with Detroit. Did you check out the museum at IOWA 80, there is a lot of trucking history in there….if you ask nice, they will most likely show you the restoration area where they restore the trucks. I'm not sure why you're coming down into the US to go across country rather than go across CA; not to dispairidge CA, but maybe it's a more beautiful trip. You didn't mention at the truck stop that they have showers. They're usually expensive (around $14-$15) but if you get a tank of gas they'll often give you a free shower.
