I felt like one unintentional message we get with the V8 jet ski is just how ridiculously huge they became over time. XP is the fun size.

That is 100% one of the abstract messages in the v8 series. Pretty neat that you cued in on that

I agree! These new skis have become more of a small boat class then a pwc. Price as well. Went to the boat show last weekend and they want 19k for the rxpx. I got my nice 20ft monterey one owner for 13k. I don't understand why whe need a windscreen or fishing rod holders on a 1000 pound ski that is stable in 4ft swells.

Same thing happened to trucks and side by sides and probably lots of other stuff. In the 90's a mini truck was pretty small, now a Tacoma is the size of a 90's fullsize 1500. The Yamaha Rhino was pretty compact, now you have SxS's that are like big class 10 race cars running 35" tires.

@@JetSkiBrothers I used to do it all just like you guys. I used to ride motocross, soup up motorized scooters, bicycles, go karts, I had a mountain bike that I put one of those Chinese eBay two stroke engine kits on, swapped it with a 27 tooth rear sprocket, and welded a kx65 pipe to the exhaust flange, after a bigger carb and the exhaust and sprocket work I had a regular pedal mountain bike that could go 55mph hahaha. Bought and sold several arcs both utility and sport, did a lot of off-roading my my trucks and blazers, I sold my ktm 125sx back in college and eventually sold my 2006 Honda CR250R. Had a few really nice seafood gtx’s for several years after the xp started getting impractical when I was with my wife. Eventually sold the 2001 gtx787-RFI and bought a 2001 gtx 951-DI, sold those and bought a 28 foot Luhrs sportfish with the flybridge which was a lot of fun to go out on with the wife and friends. Sold my other boat which was a 23’ seacraft with 225 evinrude etec outboard. Basically I have been on the water most of my life and always had at least 2 boats ever since birth. Big time fisherman. Big time marine mechanic and did that professionally from high school through college until I started as a highway design engineer with the DOT when I graduated UConn engineering school. I have had some unfortunate health issues that make walking a real challenge and I haven’t been able to do much the past couple years but up until recently I was always a gear head and playing with anything that had an engine just like you guys. I have since sold off all of the toys but still have one of the boats and still have my unfinished hot rod project. I restored my grandfathers 91 Chevy S10 pickup that he left me when he passed back in 2007 and did all the body work and paint and v8 conversion. I built a nice 383 for it years back but someone stole it out of my storage. So all I have left to get it back on the road is find another v8 short block to put in it. I have been keeping an eye out for the right deal on an LS engine like the ones you build. Just to have a fun everyday drivable reasonably powered street rod to enjoy on weekends and remind me of my grandfather. I wish I had a way to share some of the pictures from over the years. Sorry for all of the life story, I just figured I would fill you in on why I enjoy your videos so much. I see so much of my own life in you guys and I really enjoy all of the videos of riding and working on the skis. I feel like I can still enjoy those things by living vicariously through your videos since I am currently not able to do all that stuff until I can get stronger and more mobile again. I will keep working to get back on my feet again and one day I’ll be able to send you guys some ski videos of my own! I appreciate all the work you put into the channel and all of the interaction and kindness you have shown me over the years commenting back and forth!

@@cpcassone I like hearing the back story about your life. I look forward to reading comments from you and of course some of the other OGs. So its cool to hear some of your life experience. Sorry to hear you are a bit laid up. Hope you get well soon and are able to get back to the things you enjoy. 2006 was a good year of crf250, I think the 06-09 were good years. I had a 2010 crf250 back in the day. I was sponsored by a local dealership and was able to win a c class championship on that bike. However that bike sucked, they totally redid the bike in 2010 and it was not for the better. The big end crank bearing would blow every 50 hours on the dot. And the handling was weird. Had a 06 crf450 and rode an 07 crf250 way way better bikes then my 2010 crf250. Had a bunch of other bikes too but that 2010 crf250 was by far the worst. haha, now you got me going on my life story. Anyway I think its awesome that you have a hot rod that used to be your grandpas. Something cool to remember him by. I really don't have anything from my grandpa but good memories. He passed when I was 13 and I didn't realize how much I missed him until years later. So yeah pretty cool you have something from your grandpa. Well this looks like fun! A friends '96 XP has been sitting here close to a year and I finally got the motor out to change the flywheel. Had it all back together except for the carbs and realised the water tube under the exhaust never got hooked up. Everything is loosened up again so hopefully I can hook it up by just rotating the motor without having to lift it out again. Then when it's finished, maybe I should take it out for 'test purposes' as I would hate to give it back without knowing everything is good! Cheers!
