Great video I was told my differential was worn out where can I buy one that's already rebuilt so my mechanic can just install it

Try Zip Corvette or one of the other corvette specialty part suppliers.

Did you rebuild one of these rears? Are you gonna do a video showing the rebuild process? Does someone make an after market pumpkin?
@E.T.GARAGE4 жыл бұрын
No rebuild video coming up, no one makes aftermarket pumpkins for the dana 36 that I am aware of, they used to make a heavy duty dana 44 case for the C4 corvette but not anymore that I am aware of.

I have a 92 auto, stock engine. Want to upgrade to 3.54 in my dana 36. No plans to race and I have regular street tires so I think the 36 should hold up. The only other mod I plan to do eventually is long tube headers. Is all I need the new ring/pinion and an install kit for a swap? Thanks.

If you have never set up a diff before you may want to take it some place that does a lot of Dana diff's to have the new gears put in, Dana 36's are difficult to set up and require shimming the bearings, also make sure to replace the clutches for the posi at the same time.

You also may want to check out this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/habVe3uXnt5poas it's for a Dana 44 but its about the same.

@@E.T.GARAGE Oh definitely. I go to the Corvette Paramedics in South Jersey for major work. Just wanna make sure I have what I need when I drop the car off.
@E.T.GARAGE4 жыл бұрын
You may want to contact them first to see if they would rather order the parts, there may parts they prefer to use. I prefer to get them from tomsdifferentials.com/

How do you indemnify what factory gear ratio do you have? Is it stamped on the housing somewhere?
@E.T.GARAGE3 жыл бұрын
some have them stamped on the housing some do not, if your diff is not out of the car use this method "Turn the wheel TWO revolutions and count the number of driveshaft turns. The number of driveshaft rotations will help you determine your rear axle ratio. For example, if it turned 3 and a half times, it's a 3.50:1 ratio. If it turned 4 and a quarter times, it's a 4.25:1 ratio."

what type fluid do you recommend for a 44 Dana? I appreciate the info. Thank you.
@E.T.GARAGE3 жыл бұрын
I use AMSOIL 75-90 in my Dana 36, you should use the viscosity that gm recommends or go thicker if you are using it for racing.
Eugene question if i want to install a 3.07 from an 84 to a 92 would boring the holes make the weight break the rear differential?
@E.T.GARAGE3 жыл бұрын
No but the first dana 36's in the 84's were defective so you want to make sure you have the updated unit. bearing caps are a different design from what's in the video I would look for another unit.

@@E.T.GARAGE took your advice and got a 95 pumpkin for my 92. Are these pretty much plug and play? Been looking everywhere online but unsure if they use the same bolt size as a 92

@@E.T.GARAGE I have a 40 yr old original 84 diff that hasn't had any issues. What exactly is defective?
@E.T.GARAGE4 ай бұрын
@@mikeworkman3593 I am not sure as long as it is working correctly I would not worry about it.

@@E.T.GARAGE That was quick lol. Actually I'm planning on changing my ratio. everyone says my 84 should have the 2.59 in it, but it's def a 3.07(Took it out and calc the mph ver rpm in 4th). Did they make 3.07 84s that you know of? Want to make sure I get the right part(should be thin right? All 3 series will fit the same carrier?). The 3.54 ring and pinion set online says it only made for the 3.54 and up, but shouldn't it fit on a 3.07 carrier? The thick 3.54 is made for a 2 series carrier correct?

Would a Dana 60 work in a C4?
@E.T.GARAGE4 жыл бұрын
No, it may if you do a straight axle conversion.
