Between Home Free, Voiceplay and PTX we've got the trifecta of awesome a capella.

Homefree, Pentatonix and VoicePlay are the trifecta of acapella. They are the best. Now you have 3 rabbit holes. These guys are all friends and often collaborate with each other

If you think Tim's low note reverbs in your ears....you should be in doors to hear him vibrate concrete. Been there 2 times and never ceases to amaze me. When they did this on The Sing Off, the judges called it Country Reggae!! He's fantastic. Love Avi and glad he is on his own with his own music.Don't give a hoot about PTX.... I am a HOME FRY until I die!!!! Totally rocked it!!!!

Avi Kaplan left Pentatonix in 2017 and is now a successful solo artist with a rabbit hole all of his own. If you like his vocals, start with 'Change on the Rise' then take it from there. You'll not be disappointed!

Avi's voice is warm honey! I love this collab!!
@tassilo5949 Жыл бұрын
The guys from Home Free really never disappoint. I always find it fascinating how they interpret the songs without bastardizing them. The vocal range of Avi and Tim is great, especially the last low note of Tim. Not only is it deep, but he can hold it for a very long time. Better than this version is only the performance at Sing Off 2013, where Tim went even deeper.
@jill9837 Жыл бұрын
Pentatonix is another great rabbit hole but then so is Avi's solo music, completely different from anything you would expect. Avi's voice along with his masterful songwriting is nothing short of magical. Most people start with Change on the Rise but there are no bad picks.
@cocohol3513 Жыл бұрын
I totally second checking out Avi's solo music. Change on the Rise was his first solo song released in 2019 and his latest release is a live version of When I'm a Fool live at Sunset Sound studios off his album Floating on a Dream. I think you guys would enjoy Avi's music!

This song is done in a country reggae beat. It showcases the higher & lower ranges of both Tim Foust & Avi Kaplan. That last note of Tim is impressive with how low he goes, but more impressive is how long he sustains the note. On the "Sing Off Show" that Home Free won in 2013 Tim goes even lower on this song "Ring Of Fire" & he impressed the judges so much that they gave them a standing ovation. And Adam Rupp once again was stellar in his vocal percussion.

You should check out Avi’s solo work. He is absolutely amazing.
@grannymitch6707 Жыл бұрын
Avi drops ~at least~ 2 octaves in his solo. What’s particularly impressive is how effortlessly he manipulates the very different vocal chord placement needed for high vs. low notes. His tenor is bright and beautiful, to immediately turn into that deep, sonorous velvety smooth bass - quite impressive. He was way under-utilized in Pentatonix, IMO. His solo work is incredible. You need to do yourselves a favor and listen to Change on the Rise. Song for the Thankful is another of my favorites. Tim Foust’s high range is beautiful - and it’s higher than most usually guess when first hearing him. The low note at the end was all him, with only a little vocal fry, sustained for a ridiculously long time, considering how much air is used to sustain low notes. His low note when they performed this on Sing-Off was even lower, and worth listening to. To really hear Tim’s bass, check out his collaboration with Peter Hollens in Misty Mountain.

If you want to hear a bass hit the attic, check out their version of Mayday. Apparently bass singers can hit high notes due to how long their vocal cords are, or something like that. Also, their version of Ring of Fire that they did in the tv show they won is amazing too

Hey guys! Love your reactions. You have just embarked on the rabbit hole known as Home Free. When you start down this journey you'll find that there isn't any genre that these guys don't take on. Although they are known as a country group they can do so much other stuff that it's just crazy. I've said it a lot, these guys could sing the warning label on a bottle of cyanide and make it sound appealing. Lol!

Ring of Fire in a more modern, somewhat reggea-like version, but still respecting the original. 4years ago this was the first video I saw/heard from Home Free. I got there because I was listening to Pentatonix at the time and Avi was my favorite. Immediately there was something that drew me to Home Free. From then on I followed them and after I think 2 videos I was a real Home Fry. I hardly follow PTX anymore. Avi still does, because Avi Kaplan and Home Free let me feel music and not just hear it. Their great harmonies, the unbelievably good beatboxing/vocal percussion and of course that incredible deep bass that makes the ground vibrate and your speakers explode.

Avi's solo music is a must! Change on the Rise is his most popular, Floating on a Dream is his latest album (AMAZING). Avi's music leans folk / americana with a touch of country rock soul and the blues. He only has 3 covers House of the Rising Sun, Lean on Me, and OutKasts Hey Ya, everything else is an original. He has a duet with Peter Hollens Black is the Color of my True Loves Hair in which his range (especially his beautiful lower register ) is on full display. Subscribing in hopes of seeing Avi reactions.

You can't run out of content. I don't know how many videos Pentatonix, Voice Play, et. alii have, but Home Free has around 150+. Moreover 3 of them have their own channels. Not to mention there is a series called "From the Vault" (behind the scenes filming of their videos) & another called "Home Away From Home". Two of them have started a side project "Sweet & Low Music Co.". Finally, the bass has duets with Peter Hollens (on Hollens channel) and Chris Rupp (on Rupp's channel). Fall down the rabbit hole - it's a really great ride. Love your reactions!

P.S. - There's a live video called "Tim Foust's Vibrations" - he literally shakes the venue. In two other live videos he blows out the speakers.

Home Free did this on the NBC show the Sing Off and believe it or not, Tim went even lower than he does here at the end. Home Free did change it up to a reggae beat to make it different. Avi has a pretty voice. Tim helped Avi and Geoff (of Voiceplay) to go lower. Yeah Tim sings at least 5 octaves. He’s amazing. Adam, the beatboxer is amazing too. Well, they all are amazing and yes Home Free has as deep a rabbit hole as Pentatonix I would say. You would probably love Folsom Prison Blues, another Johnny Cash song the boys did during Covid. Enjoy!!!

I love this version of Ring of Fire. Their voices are amazing. If you want to change it up to symphonic metal for a music reaction, you might want to check out Nightwish ft. Henk Poort. They've done a brilliant Phantom of the Opera. I saw them last November in Amsterdam, and it was very impressive.
