Awesome dogs. Our boy Oscar is a text book Portie. Smart, strong, mischievous, always happy and looking to please. Never wants his owner out of eye sight....and a bit bossy. He did not however take to crate training as the separation anxiety was too much. I type this with a 60lb dog sprawled on me, lying on his back, enjoying a snooze before more rambunctious exercise.

Thank you for making this video! While a PWD isn't the breed for me im doing research on them because my therapist wants an "Australian labradoodle" but im trying to persuade her for a more reputably bred and sorced dog and so far the PWD matches everything she wants in a doodle

I have a black and white PWD with curly hair. I don't brush it much since it will just get frizzy and then it will matt more easily. I just trim it short for summer and let it grow when it gets colder.

I saw one of these dogs at the park today in Buckeye Arizona, which is what drew me to search for this video. It was a beautiful dog. The video stated that these dogs can be susceptible to genetic diseases. What kind of genetic problems can be expected with this breed?

WHy are purebed dogs more vulnerable to genetic defects and illnesses than mixed breeds? I thought an un-tampered-with older breed would be healthier...

I think it depends on the breeders and the breed. Most responsible breeders are very concerned about the health of their pups and avoid inbreeding and genetic issues as far as possible. However Backyard breeders and puppy mills usually do not.
