She went deaf when she was in her early 20's. She was in school for music. She has a connective tissue disorder. She recently got a cochlear implant but it doesn't help with singing.

Wow. She inspires me. I remember her at the first appearance. I’m hard of hearing gone deaf. I finally got cochlear implant in 2011. Now I’m able to hear music better. I’m so happy to hear her beautiful voice. I used to play piano until the frustration caught up to me. I no longer enjoyed it because I simply could not hear it right. Now I have hope with cochlear implant. I tried out a digital keyboard just this past Saturday at a music store using headphones. I was overwhelmed how well I could hear each key. Music is back in my life again.

I just don't understand how she has done this - being pitch-perfect but deaf. What hard work and hours of training it must have taken. Then, her lyrics are so lovely - I've seen two of her songs now, both originals, and she has a lyric gift as well! I hope that she has a long and successful career in music, her true love.
