Never played Star Ocean, but I love Tales, I love old school RPGs, and I love the Switch. Not to mention I'm digging the character designs, the main character definitely has that classic JRPG hero sort of look. So this looks right up my alley. I think I'll give it a shot.

I've never played this - except for like 30 mins on an emulator - but a friend let me borrow Star Ocean Second Story WAAAY back in the day; that game sat in my PS2 for months! So many options and scenarios; it's still one of my all-time favorites!

Ah memories.....I remember playing the original on the SNES (sure it was emulated, and translated) but was interesting, aside from it playing exactly like Tales of Phantasia.....anyway, fast forward to the mid 2000s, I played the remakes of 1 and 2 on the PSP, and had a blast. I still even have the original of Star Ocean 2...I Just don't use my ps1 games too much anymore, except for if I dust off my PS3 =p Anyway, a welcome addition to Switch, or any platform it would be on.

The only thing that deters me from getting First Departure R is that I played the PSP version years ago and there isn’t a lot different with the remaster. This series is amazing though. I’ve been a fan since Star Ocean 2 on the PS1 and I will jump onto the opportunity of playing its eventual remaster on Switch.

Never played this game, but as soon as I booted this up I noticed the anime was similar to ToP then after my first match, I was like “oh yeah, this is similar to ToP” down to soundtrack.

Jin kisaragi trails 3 will be released for switch early 2020. While tales of arise is for PS4. I’m getting both but I’ll wait for both to be cheaper which I’m hoping will happen next summer or fall 2020. 😊😊😊😊

I love the first and second star ocean games they are my favorite in the series something about the 2D sprites and 3D environments. The ps1 era was my favorite for the 3D jrpgs. Ive tried so hard to get into other 3D rpgs from the ps2 - current Gen just something special is missing. I think they replaced amazing soundtracks with Realistic HD graphics and voice acting. Maybe I'm a guy that likes to use my imagination. I dunno..

I bought it for $20, after playing for like an hour and a half I was regretting my purchase. Like the other 3 Star Ocean games I've played before it, the combat felt clunky, unintuitive, tedious and slow. If you've played Star Ocean before and you enjoyed it, then by all means show your love to this game and have fun! As for me I'm just gonna quit trying to get into this series, it's just not meant to be :(

You can decrease or increase the encounter rate with the Scouting speciality. Makes a pretty big difference too
