I first saw this film in 1975 at Moanaloa Intermediate School in Honolulu, to be exact. It was at the end of the school year after final exams and I was in 7th grade, soon to be 8th. They showed the movie in the cafeteria. I loved it.

I absolutely love these old English horror movies!! The Hammer production really put out some gems back in the day. The Creaping Flesh with Peter Cushing is my favorite, that guy was an amazing actor. I hate all this reality TV, it takes away from the art of acting! I wish they would make more movies like this one. No blood and guts, sex, nudity, horror movies with this kind of stuff is not nearly as good as these old 60/70s scary movies..

The story of the old man isn’t scary, it’s sad. Having lost his wife long ago, he lives in isolation, finding solace only in the companionship of his beloved dogs and neighborhood children. But a wealthy neighbor relentlessly torments him, stripping away everything he holds dear. First, he loses his dogs, then his job, and finally the connection he once had with the neighborhood children. The final blow comes when he’s sent hateful Valentine’s Day cards, mocking him. Each cruel act deepens his despair, making him feel invisible and utterly worthless. Consumed by isolation and humiliation, he sees no way out and tragically decides to end his own life. The old man’s heart-wrenching story serves as a poignant reminder of how the cold indifference of those around us can lead to devastating consequences, leaving us to wonder if compassion is merely an illusion in a world so harsh and unforgiving.

I can't understand why some of these good horror movies are so dark; they are almost indiscernible. The version from the 60's of Tales from the crypt that I saw was an anthology, short horrifying narratives, one of which starred Joan Collins. Peter Cushing too made an appearance in one of the segments. There's one episode when a finger is cut off and how that finger plays havoc in a person's life. It was a great watch. I wonder if Chris Lee was featured in any of these shorts.

Two things that were plot holes IMO: When the woman that killed her husband was going to call the police but didn't because she looks over at her husband's body and remembers she killed him: There's an escaped maniac running around outside, all she had to do when the police showed up was tell them he killed her husband! It's doubtful they won't believe her! The second is with the wishing statue: It's written on the statue that each owner of it gets three wishes and that's all. She used up all of her wishes, so all she has to do is give or sell the statue to her lawyer and now he's the new owner, so now he gets three wishes and can wish Jason back to life w/o the embalming fluid in him.
