@@daytripperhd LOL. Tell me you are extremely young without telling me you're extremely young. Vincent Price is considered by film experts and historians to be one of the greatest horror actors of all time. While Heston was great in his approach to the role, and his version is enjoyable (actually, to be fair, Anthony Zerbe steals the show as Mathias), that version is too much macho machine gun action and too little of the deep character study that was in the novel, and should have been in that version. I saw IaL on tv years ago .more like I tried to watch it. the quality was very bad so, I gave up. The restoration is very good. The coloration fades a little in & out but,adds to the atmosphere. I did read the novella & this film is closer to the book than the remakes. The scene where Morgan´s wife returns from the dead was creepy AF. Price was a good actor. BIG thanks for posting this.

When I watched this again years ago I thought I was experiencing a Mandela affect. I swore Vincent Price was the bad guy and the good guys were trying to cure him. I hadn't seen it since I was really young though and watching all of Vincent Price's videos as a kid they get jumbled up in my head.

I absolutely LOVE this film for how unintentionally funny it is. Seeing Vincent Price portraying an every man, lone survivalist is comedy gold. I especially love the grenade throwing scene. I have a really horrible dvd of this movie that contains 3 of his classics. This movie, House on Haunted Hill, and The Bat. The film quality of this one looks like it was run over by a truck and stored underwater for a few decades. I have also never seen it in color.

I don't think it was unintentionally funny. I think some dark humor was intended.

@@christopherjames9843 No, Vincent Price as the survivor, zombie hunter, and the end battle scene is unintentionally hilarious. It is like the Roger Moore James Bond, afraid to get his fingernails dirty is supposed to be rough and tumble. Sure.

@@eduardopena5893 It was 1963 when this was filmed. 60+ years ago. People were not nearly as sophisticated as they are today.

@@christopherjames9843 I can see how the point is going completely over your head. I would say that Vincent Price is a very sophisticated man. I completely buy him as a scientist. It was unintentionally funny to see him hunt and fight off the zombie hordes and then the military later on. It has nothing to do with the age of the film or the level of sophistication of the filming process. It has EVERYTHING to do with Vincent Price being in that role.
@christopherjames98432 ай бұрын
@@eduardopena5893 "over my head" Sure pal. In 1964 I doubt people saw the ending as comedic. How do you think they were going to film the ending with a tiny budget? Lol with CGI? They did the best they could for what was available at the time with the money they had.

The movie is adapted from the book “I Am Legend” by Richard Matheson. None of the movie adaptations; “Last Man On Earth” (1964), “Omega Man” (1971), and “I Am Legend” (2007) do the book justice. This book inspired “Night Of The Living Dead”.

I feel like the characters need to work on communication. At the end, I wonder how different the outcome would be if instead of shouting 'STOP YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND' she'd shouted 'HE HAS A F--ING CURE!!!'?? Also it's weird how lapse the Dr is with the threat of the impending assault. She warned him it was coming he's like "Lol, it's OK, let's do it tomorrow, Futurama's on RN."
