The only story I enjoyed in Part 2 was the Good Golly story. Before this, I knew nothing about a Gollywog Doll so I was inspired to do some research. Apparently there is a Jim Crow Museum with actual artifacts from that era. I may visit there someday.

Here’s why this movie was so wack. They tried to make the sequel right after the first one but there was a bunch of legal issues with the studio and the distributor. On top of the fact that white executives ain’t thinking about making a black franchise of films. So almost thirty years later when the studios finally realized that the movie was a cult classic that brings in a lot of money they greenlit the sequel. But thirty years is too long to wait to make a movie like this. That’s why so much of it feels rushed.

So....I saw this on Netflix what seems like forever ago and I was very very confused and extremely disappointed by/in this "sequel". The first Tales from the Hood is one of my absolute favorites and has a special place in my heart being a terrified 8 year old (who laughed and cried my way through the film when seeing it as a kid). I even remember the damn trailer. I mean the whole thing was iconic! And even though it took me some years to truly understand the commentary the genius of the film even as a kid I understood that it was a great film. So it really saddens me to know that Rusty (the writer ANF director of the OG) had ANYTHING to do with this awful movie which comes off as a bad joke and a big I don't give a f***. What the hell happened Rusty? How did you get from the masterpiece that was the OG Tales to this? I literally FORGOT (or I should say suppressed my memory) about this movie/that it even existed until this video, that's how traumatized I was after seeing this movie the one and only time I did. Thanks for the video I know it was though to get through. So much cringe in this film. Smh. Your suffering through this is more than worth my subscription:-)

I watched this shit years ago. I didn’t know it existed until I was scrolling through Netflix or Prime whichever. I don’t remember the second story at all. Maybe because I was still WTFing my brain out of the first story. The other two stories were everything you said. I’m just now paying attention that it was written and directed by Rusty Cundieff. That makes this sadder seeing as though he wrote two (I think) of the sketches and acted in one in the first movie.

I can tell you exactly what's going in that last segment, cause it irritated me when I first saw it and the more I thought about it. The main character Henry is a republican, and the writer's basically paint him as an Uncle Tom for being one. His boss Cotton (the Col Sanders lookin mf) wants to close voting locations for black folk in Mississippi. Henry is haunted by the ghosts of civil rights past, simply for this reason alone. Because of this, Henry's white friends and family start turning on him, and the black ghost whisperer tells him to make the sacrifice. What's the sacrifice? Well, if Henry was to proceed with his campaign, then the entire world turns into a racist hell, Henry loses his white wife, and the Klan become police officers who'll beat Henry to death. So Henry makes the sacrifice, which means he has to walk the same path of those before him, AND GETS BEATEN TO DEATH. SO EITHER WAY HE WAS GOING TO DIE!!! Henry gets no redemption, no way to make up for his actions, his widow has to be a single mother, and his mother has no reaction to her son dying right in front of her. That entire segment was just for the writer's to say, if you're a black republican, this is what we think of you, and that kind of nonsense pisses me off because I have black friends from both political sides, and you can't lump people into one box. They really had some nerve trying to preach to us after an hour of some of the worst comedy I've seen that year. And not one of them damn stories took place in the hood. Easily one of the worst movies I've seen, and of course it came from Universal, the same studio that blessed us with Undercover Brother 2. Anyway I'm done ranting. Just wanted to clear things up for anyone watching this. Good to see you back brodie🤙

Unfortunately it doesn't help that IRL there are Black Republicans who prove the sell out trope to be true (ie Larry Elder, Tim Scott, Daniel Cameron). However, they could've added some nuance to the story and characterization to make this segment more compelling instead of just one dimensional. But hey I understand. The story ideas were fine, but the executions were horrible. The Dumass Beach thing was dumb. They could have done without that ridiculous attempt of making a pun to call him a d*mbass b*tch. This movie came off way too cartoony and parody and the overacting kills it. The segments were also uneven. The third story was way too short and the fourth one was way too long. Having Keith David be Mr. Simms automatically soils his identity if you watched the first one so it made sense if he was some new character altogether the Devil was taking form of. Yeah, Dumass could have told the stories himself, but I guess it needed to be from a black person's mouth. Simms being there was also to take him to Hell anyway, so it's not that much of an issue. But yeah, a total waste of a movie that was handled too safe and chaotic. The third movie really took things back to the sinister feel of the first and crafted some serious and dark stories. None of them were all hokey like the ones here and the twist of the storyline outside of the segment tales with Tony Todd and the little girl he was seemingly rescuing was handled a lot better. THAT should have been the second one if you ask me.

This movie was definitely disappointing. I didn't like how over the top preachy it was. The first one was clever. It had plenty of social commentary, but the social commentary was done in a subtle way and didn't overshadow the horror itself. In this movie, the social commentary seems to be more important than entertaining the audience and it fails miserably. The silver lining is that the series redeems itself somewhat with the third one.

I'm big fan of creativity in tv or movie & music wether it's obscure or not & wether it's *Fantasy, Horror, Sci-fi, Action, Drama* i love ideas most people couldn't imagine in over a million years What i really generally HATE is if the bad dialogues, so bad acting or scripts and all that should hardly be a problem 😕 just as long as the dialogues aren't terrible Like for example Scary Movie 1 & 2 were PERFECT But they've killed it with the 3rd installment making it way too obvious with the scripts cause of the Dialogues They should leave that WHOLE franchise to the Wayans Brothers they pull it off nicely
