Absolutely love that you put this stuff together. Thanks for the hard work. Born & raised in Detroit. Grew up going to Cobo Hall In the 60's 70's 80's. Pompero Firpo, Bulldog Don Kent, Bobo, Johnny Valentine & greatest performer in pro wrestling history.... The Original Sheik. In my opinion.

How do you post a Detroit retrospective and not mention Bobo Brazil as a main foe of the Sheik?
@fixpacifica5 жыл бұрын
That's exactly what I was thinking. This was the wrestling promotion I grew up with in Ohio, and Bobo vs. The Sheik were the two biggest stars of the promotion, and had the longest running feud.

Loved this show when I was growing up. A few notable names left out of this documentary: Pampero Firpo, Killer Brooks, Bulldog Don Kent ( he was also a member of the Fabulous Kangaroos) and tag teams Stomper (Guy Mitchell) and Ben Justice and also the Texas Outlaws (Dick Murdoch and Dusty Rhodes). Also ring announcer/commentator Bob Finnegan. Lots of great memories!

Abdullah wrestled a lot in Detroit. He'd wrestle here for a pretty good stretch, then do a bit of a world tour, then came back for another stretch, and so on. I think Farhat would always make sure there was a place for him.

I like that you do these docs, but you occasionally leave out a lot of important stuff. With this one you left out The Sheik's main opponent throughout the time he owned the promotion: Bobo Brazil. That was the one feud that kept the company afloat all those years. Also no mention of Pampero Firpo, Brute Bernard or Killer Tim Brooks.
@StopMAGA5 жыл бұрын
It bears repeating, "WHY THE FUCK IS BOBO BRAZIL NOT MENTIONED IN THIS PIECE??? How can you talk about Detroit area professional wrestling in the 70's without mentioning Bobo Brazil?

Big huge belts with fancy filigree work cost money. In those days, you sold tickets and hoped to Hell you made enough to pay everyone and keep some for yourself. Also, notice belts from the 40's and 50's. They look like belt buckles. Same reason.
