I live in England, having moved there well over two decades ago from the USA, but my parents settled in a community in coastal North Carolina. That community seems to be made up of very mainstream-type people, but my family is different and is deeply interested in caring for wildlife and nature. I may have done a few things I have learned from the old ways of England to protect the house and land from hurricanes in years past, so the cunning people may have taken notice. Anyway, a year or two ago - it may have been one of the pandemic years, I went out as night was rolling in (one of the in-between times) to look at the planets that were starting to show quite brightly in the darkening sky. Then, I saw what looked like a bright yellow firefly that was sort of sparkling more than glowing. It was next to a pond. There was just one. Then it shot off down the side of the pond in a straight line at what seemed like 30 mph and disappeared. My family has never seen a firefly in that area in the 23 years that they have lived there, September is not firefly time, and I have never seen a firefly move that fast. When I returned to the house a short time later, I saw the same firefly in the leaves on a low branch of a tree in front of our porch. It was shining so bright that it illuminated the leaves. Then it shot off up into the sky. I have never told anyone except for my Mum and one other person who is into this kind of thing. I am of sound mind, work in a role that qualifies me as a professional observer, do not use illicit substances, and hadn't consumed any alcoholic drink that day/evening. I wondered if it was one of the good people coming out to say hello. This memory came to mind when I heard your first story. However, it just stayed as a light and did not change into anything else.

@@Allan_aka_RocKITEman I thought that might be in Wales until I looked it up. Never heard that, but when I left, I left from New Jersey. Headed back slightly south of the port city to experience some hurricanes and if I am lucky, some of the fae or other strangeness in a fortnight.

Finally someone else who has seen it. So this happened to me in Placentia Ca, about 35 years ago just in the street in front of my friends house. Long story short, it looked like a pin prick of light and it moved so fast it was almost unseen. It travelled about 30 mph as well in a straight line and left about a 10 to 15 foot trail of light behind it like a long tail. So it went straight down the street and made a 90 degree left turn. The trail of light actually created an angle as one part made the left first and the tail had to catch up and turn. There are more details I left out for sake of a shorter message.

It’s funny , here I am , addicted to ur tales , only because, on a heated evening, on a hosepipe ban I sneaked out side to water my beloved plants , on this mid summer s Eve ……. It was two years ago now , an eve I can never relive , for all may be 10 seconds I seen the brightest of lights that flew in to my face from out of a flowering bush , of maybe ten inches of bright light for the second she flew at my face I seen the fae Beauty and will forever be stunned .. forever be looking but certainly will forever believe ❤ country side uk the understanding of fairy lights ❤I now have the most amazing pub shed at the bottom of my huge garden, it’s called clovers cavern , filled with leprechauns and fairy s … there garden is in development…… I hope they like it , everybody el does ❤

I recently saw what looked like a flying seed but it moved purposely as opposed to just being carried by the wind which there was virtually no wind that day. It moved from the rear fence wall of the backyard into the terrace out into the other half of the backyard and finally turned to the opposite side of the house. I followed intrigued but there was no trace of it. Dunno what to make of it. Make of it what you will.

In Irish fairy mythology there is a very blurry line between fairies and ghosts. It is often suggested that they are same thing or that they live on the same plane.
