Even if I didnt play it, I was so into the story. It was beautiful. they did a great job with voices, character, designs, the system looked fun and that story... wow. Those "What could have been" sketches are pretty sad... starting adventures together, being rescued by Magilou and Bienfu, sailing with Eizen, uknowingly bumping into Rokuro, being helped by Eleanor, and coming home to their littlelittle Phi for some family playtime and hunting.

I believe 2 things 1. Along with knowing that he would destroy the world, Velvet decided to seal herself with Innominat (Laphicet), to make up for the pain she caused. 2. The pictures you see during the credits are the dreams that Velvet and Laphicet hoped to achieve. They both wanted to travel the world so it makes sense. Any other thoughts are welcome.

Anyone realize that Velvet managed to cut off Artorius' armatus with Innominat by biting him in the neck and ripping Innominat out when Sorey had to use Siegfried and sacrifice his friends to cut off Heldalf's armatus with Maotelus? I guess being a Lord of Calamity gives you benefits.

Well, to be fair, Phi (aka Maotelus) was in his hellionized dragon form in Zestiria. And the only way to purify a Seraph/Malak from their hellionized dragon form is by using Siegfried. There's a side quest in this game explaining the usage of Siegfried, which mentioned the experiment of using Siegfried to purify a Malak from their dragon form. Innominat on the other hand, was still in his Malak form so he can be separated from Arthur by just biting his neck.

i'm sad when i see the credits. the worst is that it shows that if velvet didn't become a therion, if laphicet didn't have the 12 year sickness, if celica wasn't sacrificed for inominat, and if arthur didn't go off the deep end due to said sacrifice, velvet would have still encountered everyone she considered and ally and probably would have let them come along on the journey she and laphicet were having, considering we see magilou, eizen, rokuro and eleanor with them.

Well, those credit pictures are supposedly what Velvet is dreaming about, since they're followed by images of her sleeping, so the others are most likely there only because they were important to her. I mean, look at Rokurou and Shigure. Rokurou wanted to kill him from before he became a Daemon so there's no way they'd just be drinking together at a restaurant like it's no big deal. I think that's just Velvet's opinion on sibling relationships bleeding through.

......And yet, Maotelus' wish was never fulfilled. Human is bound to make the same mistakes, and many, including Maotelus himself, experienced such sad truth himself, in the distant future, alongside some of his friend held dear, like Eizen. You know, I gotta say, that's a pretty satisfying ending for a game. Everyone pretty much had their goals met (more or less) and while it's not really all that happy, or perfect of an ending, and they may have fucked things up royally for many future generations to come, all hope is still not lost. Helps put a lot of things into a different perspective when compared to Zesty. And the pictures we see during the credits make me happy and sad at the same time. If only. If only. :,)

A huge thank you for this LP! I absolutely enjoyed and finally I know now the full content of the story. It made me to replay this game. It will be defintely my game of 2017 -despite I bought it in 2016.- First final boss phase: Gaius x Muzét II Second phase: Giant version of Duke with superb attack range. It was a great final boss despite the themes were way less memorable than the one in the final dungeon. Also the scene of Arthur's death is just bittersweet satisfaction for everyone. As bittersweet as Velvet's and Laphi's ending.

I went from "USE IMPULSE DESIRE PLZ" to "OOH INDIGNATION FINISH? YEEEEEE" so fast. xD And with this, Laphicet becomes the Big Good we gotta save from Heldalf 1000 years later, Rokurou's Rangetsu style transcends generations until it eventually becomes a fighting style Rose adopts in the Scattered Bones, Magilou settles in her role as a Storyteller of Time, Velvet is in a state I hope Zestiria the X will acknowledge if it ever makes it that far but in the very least, someone in her family becomes Lailah later... and Eizen eventually becomes a dragon. RIP. And given how she is actually the one who named Phi Maotelus, how she was once his vessel, how she's the one going to spread the word about Maotelus being a thing, *and* her green eyes and especially those fingerless gloves... I believe Eleanor is actually an ancestor of Sorey! o.o

I feel that even though Laphi still said that he hated Velvet for the childish things, I feel more that he recreated everything that had happened and what they both were put through. He wanted to protect Velvet, but Arthur constantly in his head made him the way he was. And also with the power he had, he got cocky and drunk with power. He still cared for Velvet deep down inside. He thought if he took her hatred he would have truly saved her.... Damn Arthur. You deserve to rot in hell tbh

this boss fight on hard or higher can go die in a pit of fire. literally the first phase was just innominat spamming insubstantiality and second phase was artorious spamming his break soul (thank god its easy enough to dodge) thx for the playthrough omega :D

try playing on chaos, innominat one-shot everyone with insubstantiality in the beggining i personally used Eleanor 3rd MA and Laphiced 3rd MA since they're easier to do to take 60.000HP in the beginning. ALL THE 4 AT SAME TIME.

Good finale. Also a thing that the Elemental Empyreans decided to step in and stop the world from sliding into complete chaos like everyone predicted was going to happen. Guess that wouldn't have been a very satisfying ending. The thing that makes most Tales games stand out to me plot-wise is utilising huge collections of JRPG cliches before thoughtfully deconstructing, and then reconstructing them. In this case, it felt like it was taking on a conflict more often presented in the Shin Megami Tensei series- logic versus emotion, or order versus chaos. Also, 'revenge before reason'.

in the end, only small number of people really know what their so-despised lord of calamity (velvet) has done to the world. phi carries her wish (and his own resolve) for humanity second chance. really hoping someone from ToZ finds out the truth of ToB, someone like sorey. i think ToZ's mayvin doesn't seem to know about this, unlike his predecessor.

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I LOVE the connection between Berseria to Zestiria. I just wish I knew what happened in between the end of Berseria to Zestiria that caused Maotelus to fall into his slumber in Zesteria (if I'm remembering the game right). I just love the connection between the characters. I wounder what Magilou, Rokurou and Elenor contributed to the world post-game, since we know Eizen became a dragon.

I mean, we technicaly know how (we just don't know the details). Heldalf, as the modern Lord of Calamity, tethered with Maotelus, robbing the world from its blessing. Making the world fall into a huge spike of Malevolence that had to be dealt with by the new Shepherd.

So when their souls were used to wake up the Empyreans were they also reborn as the Empyreans?As a side note this is such a bitter sweet ending knowing what happens in Zestiria. Maybe we'll get a sequel to that, one that at the very least ends this cycle of malevolence once and for all.

So.. the first battle is similar to Gaius and Muzet from Xillia eh? Good thing that Artorius's version of Save Wolf Fury cannot be overly spammed like Yuri from Vesperia. Then the second battle is like Mithos from Symphonia lel. And Holy Moly. The last battle in Chaos Mode sure is insane 0_0. And the end is somewhat similar to Sorey in Zesty about how he's "abandoned in the time."

I tried it on Hard, died twice, then just played on Normal and won. felt a bit easy on normal but still fair overall.

For Zanza, I don’t have an explanation but I have a link between Artorius and Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil wanted to turn everyone into lifeless beings to prevent discrimination while Artorius wanted to suppress mankind’s emotions to erase malevolence. It’s similar, right?
