This episode just wasn’t that exciting, we didn’t like it that much. The research aspect Dr. Everett was working on was cool, but he was so disconnected and didn't want to work with humans anymore that it just didn’t work. Basically his research was only for himself and not for anyone else. AMC had all this heartfelt and somewhat motivational music score throughout the whole episode which made the episode quite flat. If they would have kept some of the music out it could have given more realism to the episode. Let us know what you thought Episode 1x4.
@HIPsteHeero2 жыл бұрын
But it's intentional that he's so disconnected, it is literally the point of half the episode, if not more. So how does something that is intentional, not work? Then it just comes down to you not liking it, but it still working. I personally thought it worked quite well, and truthfully, I can kind of understand where the guy is coming from. Because in the span of 5 years, I've kind of become really sick and tired of humanity as a whole as well. Let alone if you then focus purely on the scientific facts and historical evidence of the human race as a whole and I can say that it's WAAAAY easier to give up on us as a race, than it is to keep any faith at all. His research for one wasn't for CURENT humanity and other people, but he started to kind of change his mind slightly on that. But the whole point was that he was sticking to the only thing he had left. The promise he made to the last person he had really spent any time with. Which again, is a very, VERY human and relatable thing to do. So again, it works, it's realistic, it's human nature. And I don't really get how music makes something flat? Literally NOT having that music in it would have made it flat... It's from a writer's point to try and make it clear to the viewer that there IS still hope, even with everything, literally 99% of things from Everett's POV specially, NOT being hopeful at all.

at the end it almost looked like Walker Amy recognized Dr. Everett for a few seconds. I find that so interesting, same with the walker "psychology" the doctor mentioned earlier with 21 and the dog. As for how he's getting power, he has a solar panel on his bag, that obviously doesnt power everything but its an answer to how he has some things working. This episode was good and in my opinion better than episode 2, but I've enjoyed all of them so far because I don't really have any expectations.

I believe the poem Amy’s referencing when she mentions masks is “We Wear The Mask” by Paul Laurence Dunbar. It’s basically about choosing to hide behind a “mask” we create in order to protect ourselves from the judgment/oppression of others.

I gotta disagree with your takes on the episode, we can see on his backpack what looks like some sort of portable solar panel which even in 2010 would still produce a decent amount of electricity and it's not like he's powering super intensive stuff which would drain the juice pretty quickly. Humanity are social animals and long term isolation can take a serious mental toll so this research gives him a purpose to continue living even if his research isn't actually being used by other communities.

Why do some people feel the need to still form communities and why do some stay apart. The ending is sad but also pretty much what I expected. I definitely enjoyed this episode. There is a lot of talk of then trying to build mythologies in the universe. This does a pretty decent job at it. Assuming this setting takes place in Georgia. I think it's very interesting to see what happens to Georgia after the group heads to Washington. I think people are missing the point of this show. It's not trying to connect to the main story in a substantial way. It's trying to expand the mythology of the universe. Each episode has a radically different tone and genre. They also each make characters and "worlds" that they can expand upon in the future. For example, last week we saw Hera and the first Whisperers. That's a spin off show. Figuring where this organization came from and how Alpha took it. That's at least a 6 episode miniseries. Every episode does this, in this episode we don't just see a recluse scientist studying walker migration patterns in a isolated environment away from human involvement have to handle human settlers. Despite that concept being intriguing on its own and good enough for a one off episode. This episode bodes many questions. Who are the headhunters. Where were the settlers originally from? Where they with Maggie and Georgie because we know she was down here again at one point. What's happening in Georgia in general. Whats going on at Grady Memorial. Maybe they got their act together and began expanding eventually conquering parts of Atlanta. Side note: We found the best walker blending tactic with the walker skin coat. It's impressive how that works. E

One word for AMC ...."CONNECTION!!!" ....make the connection with main show doesn't even have to be huge. Just give it a try.
@squidlytv2 жыл бұрын
No. They are trying to expand not tie it into the main show when that's already ending. They are trying to explore new things not the same old same old. The reality is there is not much you can connect to the main show because it's been realitively self contained. It would be contrived and awkward if everything was connected. It's a larger world out there, everyone shouldn't know everyone.
@orlandowilliams43402 жыл бұрын
@@squidlytv obviously it's a larger world and it doesn't have to have a connection with other people I guarantee you if they did that their viewer based on the spin-offs would be larger than what it is in my opinion the spin-offs I mean all of them so far have been borderline failures. some have giving good information with things to look forward to I'm referencing World Beyond but in a nutshell since the fall, the CRM has thrived and has expanded all over the country so I feel like there should be some kind of connection with that some kind of way or something Georgie and her group has expanded from possibly small to large groups Connections in either one of those would be awesome. And you can still move forward from those connections and you can also move forward with new unique things but I can't put my finger on it but they're doing something wrong in my opinion all this is my opinion.

But I gotta call you out on the electricity thing. In the very first few moments of the episode, you can see a small solar panel hanging for his backpack, I'm guessing it was to power the controls for his drone and to charge the drone as well. So if he has solar panels, he should have bigger ones for his house and everything else. Isn't it already given that in the Walking Dead universe, they don't use power lines anymore coz there's no grid to get power from. Everyone uses solar energy!!!

Yeah...this episode was pretty boring. I didn't like Amy or Dr. Everett that much tbh. The two of them didn't mix well and they really didn't do anything interesting with this taking place in the future. Also, it annoyed me so much how pathetic all of them were around walkers this far into the apocalypse. This definitely wouldn't have been out of place in Fear.....
