AHHHHH I'm so sad I didn't know about this before! I really wanted to have voted for Lloyd as the best character. He's my favorite video game character and I really love how he helps anyone, regardless of race or past, he's a very honest character and he really believes in everyone. He's a character that I really wanted to have as a friend in real life.

my favorite character 1.Yuri Lowell: he is the ideal hero for me, his justice is what we need in this world. he is willing to be considered a criminal for the sake of justice 2.Ludger: no matter what his choice, it's always tragic except humor ending (arena)

"Meddling when you don't need to is the true essence of a hero." Actually, most hero anime pits heroes against anti-heroes who feel that society is full of hypocrites and corrupt people with fake virtues. I can't say that anti-heroic heroes like Yuri and Velvet are wrong... to many gamers they may be the best Tales heroes... which I have no opinion on. But if we're talking about the present, I think Sorey is also a good fit. He's low-key, he's accepting, and he loves to meddle even when he doesn't need to. And he has no persecution complex. He doesn't question the law nor does he think it's the only way to get things done. I think that's the best hero we need these days... someone who won't go to extremes to carry out justice... because if you push it too far, that would be terrorism, not heroism. After all, terrorists also have "rights" and "ideals" they're fighting for. But when it comes to the "best" Tales heroes... I leave it to gamers to decide that. We play games to enjoy them, not to compete with others. Games are fun when we respect what others enjoy, not just our own. I think Yuri is an interesting character for Tales, but he's not my ideal hero if we're talking about the real world. All Tales games are "best" for the gamer who loves that game, so we're all equal. It's the same with our favorite characters. Sorry for the long reply... but it's really nice to hear someone talk about his/her favorite character. ^_^

@@turquoisemoon3654 That's a great way to put it. You're absolutely correct. There is no "best" Tales protagonist or game. In the end, our favorites comes down to our choices! And I like to think there's something good in all of them! Whether you prefer the happy Sorey, the cool Yuri, the idealistic Lloyd, the growth of Luke, we have our favorites! And there is no true "right" or "wrong". I also wish to take this moment to apologize. I've replied to you in the past, and we had our scuffles. Maybe you or I were arrogant once, but fighting does nothing. We both love Tales, do we not? So I do apologize for anything in the past I may have said.

@@Petronia911 I guess I was reacting after coming from that direction where I've read a lot of hate comments that just sounded so unfair to a new fan. I mean, it's hard to say anything good about a franchise when people just tell you, hey I've heard from so and so about this- and you end up with people losing interest or making fun of the series. That said... I know I have my faults too, so I apologize as well. I hope we can be in better terms in the future. And yeah, I just wish we all could just be happy that there is a Tales title for every person out there. There's a Sorey, Yuri, or Velvet for those who love that kind of character. Other Tales fans won't understand how it feels.. but I met more than a few Zestiria fans who wouldn't even read ANY Tales comment because some haters and critics just went overboard. I think if you love the game so much, it feels natural to be sad and disappointed when your harmless, innocent characters are ridiculed and treated like they shouldn't even exist. I'm not a fan of Alisha so I don't get the hype... but B-Namco being pressured to give everything her fans wanted, I think that's too much. Like I keep saying, we're all fans. We all want something... but there are limits. It's not wrong to complain to companies, it's our right... but I hate controversies that try and destroy "good" things because some fan thinks he's the only one who's right about everything. When I see Alisha, I just remember all the bad memories and the degenerates who say nothing but bad stuff about everyone except her... and I lose the energy to have fun. I hope Berseria fans would be more "moderate" in making demands as well. They say the gaming world is full of haters... wanting to hurt people when they don't get what they want. It's sad but that's how outsiders see us. I hope we should just let others enjoy what they love. That's the best. ^_^

@@Petronia911 It's the most amazing Tales for me. If the anime followed the game dynamics instead of catering to Alisha fans, it would've been the best anime for me as well. Alisha fanboys ruined everything for new fans... and turned such a wonderful game into a controversy. Haters politicizing games is the worst for me.

I only played Radiant Mythology 1 due to money problems. But I hope to be able to play other titles in localized versions because the characters in all games are amazing! I'm happy for Luke to 1st! Tales of the Abyss anime introduced me to this series.

Even though i dislike Colette, i can somewhat understand that she is in the list. However, in the case of Ludger i can not understand it. He has no personality. Sadly, I always miss these polls. For me the four best characters are: Yuri, Kratos, Jude and Zaveid (Except for Zaveid, all are in the list so i'm kind of happy with it). The most underrated minor character in my opinion might be Fourier.

Lugder have no personality...? Have you REALLY played TOX2? First, although all of his lines is choices, all choices are base on his personality, no matter you choice L1 or R1, Ludger's personality didin't change-a friendly man who love his family and can do anything for them, and well, sometime is a bit playful too. Second, if you have played the original version which is in Japanese vo, the voice actor do a very good job in Lugder's reaction to other characters, which is not a choice. Although the lines are only "er..." or "huh", we can read the emotion of the character from his voice and it really make Ludger's personality become complete. Also the 3D model's Motion do a good job in presenting hie emotion too. Third, the story summary in game is Lugder's dairy and it is wrote in first person point of view. Read it and you will know more about this character. Forth, offcial dramaCD, i think i dont need to say anything about it. Understanding Lugder's personality is harder than other characters as in the 1st play he has no voice and all of his line is choices, but you will know he have a very strong personality if you hear his vo in 2nd play and pay attention to his reaction, facial expression and body language. He is not a character have no personality.
