The actors from past generations are much tougher stock than the generic Paper Doll actors we have now. These guys knew how to ride, fight, drink ( a bit ) , and all the rest of the good stuff . I find older shows more entertaining these days . That’s how I ended up here . Thanks for sharing .

My dad used to watch this show on TV in the early 1970s. It used to come on KTTV, Channel 11 , Los Angeles. Well , I like watching this too because of today's sick TV reality shows. This show makes you feel good and it taught moral values. It still holds up after 60+ years.

12:09 I was offended that the the teacher needed to tell the boy to pick up the rifle. They painted the boy as being skilled. I think that he would have picked it up immediately, even before he pointed out the men to the teacher. I'd have like to see the boy pick up the rifle and the teacher say "Where?", the boy says "200 ft left of that big tree, behind the rocks." The teacher responds "I see them. You've got good eyes my friend" or something like that. See them working together well. At some point the boy needs to make some mistakes but he shouldn't have needed prompting here.

I watched this show when it first aired. Dale Robertson is the most authentic western actor ever in a tv show. Dale was a real westerner, from OK, really knew how to ride, fight and speak like a true westerner, which cannot be said of many actors. These 50s westerns were the real deal, before Bonanza started the western soap opera trend.

Yup, as a kid I knew that Bonanza wasn't a real western and i saw it all die right then! But thanks to KZbin, the westerns are available again - but now I am too old to shoot with them and fall down on the couch, etc. as I did as a kid. O well!

A young Michael Landon, as Tad. Also starred in Bonanza, Little House on the Prairie, and Highway to Heaven. I recently watched him in two episodes of Tombstone Territory, another great western TV show. And the second bandit, Mitt, is Kevin Hagen, who appeared in many TV shows, mostly westerns. He was also a full time cast member of Little House on the Prairie, playing Dr Baker. And I remember him appearing in an episode of MASH.

My mom took me to see him in _I Was a Teenage Werewolf_ when I was only 9. I remember bigger teenagers in the line asking my mom if I was not too young to be seeing such a horror picture. It sure did scare me but my mom started talking to me at the scene where he is changing and she pointed out the makeup and the paint on his nose and she made sure I understood that it was all make believe.

Dale raised top quality quarter horse at his OK ranch and Jubileewas one of his stallions. He was an authentic ranch raised Okie cowboy- he rode Jublilee in most of his Wells Fargo TVs and, possibly , in one or more of his movies. The Western actors like Roy Rogers rode their own privately owned horse because the horses got paid to appear- besides, the actors trusted their own horse because they were familiar with them and knew throw they were react in circumstances

It was a great idea to take your own trusted horse to work and then collect salary for the horse as well as your own- the horse’s owner got paid for the horse’s appearance so these cowboy actors could “ double dip” and get paid for riding their own favorite horse. Sweet deal for them!

John Oyer Hey. Buddy! Did you know that the palomino “Golden Cloud” that Olivia DeHaven rose in the movie” The Adventures Of Robin Hood” was sold for $2500 to Roy Rogers who renamed him “Trigger, the Wonder Horse” and rode him for over 30 years. Roy had to buy him on a installment plan as he didn’t have $2500 - yet- as he was just starting his career. Roy’ s real name was Leonard Slye and he was born in Cincinnati, sonLeonard Slye and Golden Could became the famous Roy Rogers and Trigger! Roy raised race horselater in life and had Trigger Jr. and Young Trigger but he never bred Trigger although he remained a stallion, not a gelding, all his life!
