Nearly everything closed early for Ramadan! Temples, museums, etc - we found them to be closed earlier than Google's stated hours. Don't miss the night market with the brightly colored cars! It was a highlight for us.

that seller with briefcast of money is for the people who want to exchange smaller currency, its tradition that in idul fitri "ied al fitri" all the people who work in the city come to their home in kampung or village and they share money to the relative and neighbour especialy kids who walking around to greeting and visit all the houses in the village like helloween trick or treat but here is also give money beside cake or food, sorry i'am not good in explained in english 😅 the seller ussulay take a fee about 10% from the money you want to exchange with small change that they had thats why they took place right infront of the bank

Back to their hometown, most of them make better living in Jakarta or Surabaya Kinda charity or giveaway to their nephews and their siblings or cousins to their kids, it's confusing 😂

Guide is a good idea you can pay them as littke or as much you like ,beside they know the history of the place, they know how to take picture like pro. water palace is huge place to cover, you guys didnt see the bunker, the fort facing to merapi mountain, it used to be a river.
