If only we could design our current world with such sensitive consideration for our environment and culture...this place is pure magic, every stone placed with such intention and mastery, every structure beautiful and meaningful, and every space in between purposeful and carefully planned. My wife was put in an orphanage in Ensenada when she was 3. She spoke Mixtapa and was forced to learn Spanish. When she came to the states around 9 she lost her Spanish quickly. I want our kids to learn all their ancestors history

My dad is Oaxaca from Tapailjo. He spoke Mixteco but sadly never taught me. It’s a dying language none of my cousins can speak it either. The culture the food the art is all so amazing. I went to this sight and the energy and vibe is so captivating. My grandma was this little old lady who always wore those dresses.

This is amazing my family is from oaxaca, tiny villages called “el carmen” “saintanes”. I recognize all the foods you mentioned ! my mom makes them all the time, it really makes me appreciate my culture. sadly i’ve never been to mexico but this video makes me want to go so bad

visited this place as a kid a walk past the sun temple is where i got to try rabbit for the first time also bought a obsidian knife that had a beautiful hilt of an eagle warrior one of my favorite memories from mexico wish i couldve seen ruins of my nahau or purepecha ancestors but this place was just as breath taking

I am Zapotec all youtubers have it wrong. Dain Al-Ba other variant Dain Gel bá. Dain means mount or mountain Al- ba or Gel vá. Meaning Sky or near the sky. " Monte cerca del cielo" but they made the name commercial as Monte Alban.

In puebla horizon style writing,whats found in mixtec codices,a hill glyph reports is symbol or word for city,as same in nahuatl,aztec codices the altepetl means city. Monte alban likely shares connection to that,i took k course in ancient oaxaca and am anthropology graduate

Alba-Longa is the place (Latinum) were the Alban Peoples foundet ROME. Alban meant Highlander. Blonde. Warrior. Snt Alban we have on Germany, Britain etc on the first age of Christianity. Alban peoples called the First Viking Kindom on Britain which followed that of Scotland kindom (Alba ). Albany on NY. Or Auban(Alban) on France., is lexical formation from the same word. Albania on Balkan etc

Very informative video friend. My parents are of Zapotec descendants (Maya too) and my father is actually trilingual (English, Spanish, & Valley Zapotec) so he would speak all three in the household and it is a quest of mine to learn it as you are correct-it is a dying language sadly. One of the reasons our generation doesn’t learn it because of the need to assimilate in the USA especially in modern civilization as Zapotecs have been subjected to discrimination, ironically, by other more established Mexicans in the USA and get looked down on because we are too “Indian.”

Monte Albán was named for the tree that grows prolifically in the area. It was not “abandoned”. It was hidden by the ancient Olmecs to protect it from the Spanish. Local people knew it was there through oral tradition. It was “discovered “ in the 1940’s and excavation continues today.

Very detailed information. Nice video. I do want to clarify that Mexico is in North America and so there are pyramids and large ruins in North America. Also, Mexico is not defined by texmex food. Texmex food is authentic Mexican food adapted to meet the likes of americans in the U.S. Other than that I thought the video was well done :)
