@@alantorres2256 it is possible if a load of combinations are made ie 100% with 75% have 87.5, that and 100% have 93.75 Zapotec DNA. Im pretty sure there can be slight inaccuracies so genetic tests come out slightly off, hence 92% is a possible result

Our Native DNA numbers were really high, but it's a scientific fact, that other than registered full Native ppl and tribes, Mexicans, including Mexican Americans, carry more Native DNA than any other group, and México carries more full Native tribes than any other country. South America ain't no slouch either!

My family is from Oaxaca. Zapotec Aztec. My parents don't speak Spanish at home, they speak zapoteco. A little insight- my dad is a very hard worker. He now owns his own business after becoming a master at farming. He has 2 sons, one joined the Marines (me) and the other joined the Army. One son is in school right now to be a doctor, and I am going to the best restaurants in the world as a chef. I think about our blood line a lot. I feel like we have instincts that others just don't have anymore. I also think we have a hidden reservoir of energy. We don't need to eat as often as others. We don't need sleep as others. And maybe it's because of my dad, helping others and having strong family bonds is crucial.

We got corn imported from Oaxaca, nixolmalized (soaked in water with lime stone), and then milled every morning using a machine that used volcanic stones. I never felt so in touch with my roots than doing things like that.

I've travelled Oaxaca this year. Amazing culture and I saw the difference between the Mayas in the East and the Oaxaca peoples. Best food in Mexico.

Yes, the food is great! There are a few Mexican restaurants about 20 minutes from where I live that specialize Oaxacan cuisine... it's amazing, so full of flavor. Anshtech Company i am full zapotec too. and even though i was born in oaxaca, i was not raised there. the community we have in the states, we speak the native language when we have celebrations. my mom is not afraid to speak the language in public. i went back to visit family back in oaxaca recently and the native villages teach the zapotec language in schools in an effort to preserve the language. but unfortunately most of us raised in the states were not taught the language, i asked my mother why she didn’t bother to teach me, she told me she didn’t see a need for me to know the language. she regrets it now though. ive been trying to teach myself but it’s difficult because there are many variations of the language, even from a village 2 hours away, they have different words for the same thing. so it really depends.

The ancient "Olmecs" of Mexico is one of most intriguing civilizations of the Americas. In fact, they are the first civilization in Mexico and it was from them that all other civilizations in Mesoamerica followed. Yet, the fact that the Olmecs were most likely a Black civilization of African origins has not been made public and the "Indian" elements in Mexico have gained more prominence to the extent that the Negroid substrata of the ancient Mexican/Mesoamerican civilizations has been kept hidden. elliott prats they couldn’t create a civilization because the land was not suitable for it. It was probably cooler, more rocky areas. If you consider the continental drift theory(presented by Greeks, but probably discovered through African colonization) different African tribes could be found in many places probably. The olmecs have no traceable dna just statues and such their culture imo closely resembles ancient African civilizations before Roman colonizers. Everyone that came after the olmecs would’ve been living in a different climate after the continents drifted, meaning the land became suitable because the climate was different. And as we all know Aztecs(Spanish Europeans) thrived the land after that. I say no one knows what race the olmecs are, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re actually African

My great grandfather is from the Zapoteca. He was a MASTER farmer and lived 106 years. He lived in Jalisco, Coahuila and Kansas City! Arcadio Dominguez! He always planted his crops on a full moon and harvested on a full moon. His food never went bad!

I wish there was more stuff we knew about zapotecans from their point of view. Especially the zapotecans from 1000bce and even further. It’s crazy how all these relics and artifacts are shipped around the world to different museums and never shown to the peoples of the artifacts origin.

You were colonized 100 years before the USA and Canada. But even in 2021, you are not able to produce enough archeologists to manage your very interesting sites. In some way, you are lucky that many of those first artifacts ended in Spain or the USA and now you can ask for them - can you imagine what would become with them in all those revolutions you went through?

The Zapotec religion is oddly similar to the Akan belief system. Both have a supreme being that doesn’t really interact with the world it creates, and spirits that interact with the world instead.

Mexico is pretty weird sometimes with the whole Indio thing. I suppose it's a hold over from the time of colonization. In any case, my wife, daughter, and I spent two months in Acapulco with her family. After a while I was able to get her grandmother to talk more about her family. When she mentioned that her brother spoke Zapotec I sort of put 2 and 2 together. Really interesting hearing how they grew up.

1. Some 35years back I had read in an essay that people who settled in Mexico had sailed from far East. 2. Around 1977 I had seen a figure in an article in Scientific American depicting Mayan figure which very much looked like Flying Hanuman(from Ramayana story) with a hill in his hand. 3. If one looks into the worship of female God, there is lots of similarity in South American and Indian mythology. 4. In the story of Mahabharata there is mention of heroes going to under world, also called PATALA and getting married. 5. There is similarity in celebrating/worshiping deads. 6. If one looks at the temple architect of South India and that of Aztec, there is lots of similarities. I understand what all these are circumspect points. But more research is needed to investigate the subjects. Indians were also very skilled ship builders and navigators.

Is it not pronounced as it's spelled; "Monte Albán (MON-te al-BAN)? He pronounces "Oaxaca" in the familiar way, so maybe his way is right? "MON-te AL-ban"? It sounds weird to me, but I'm not from Mexico... (I use the name frequently, as I am a bartender and there is a tequila with that name; have I been saying it wrong all this time?) 🤔

The state of Oaxaca (from where Zapotecs are) is the state with most Mescal varieties. Tequila is the most produced and famous variety of Mescal, but Tequila is from the estate of Jalisco. There is debate about if the destilation methods used to made Mescal came from Spain or the Philippines on colonial times, or if it was developed by mesoamericans independently. Some recent archeological finds on the states of Colima and Tlaxcala point to precolombine destilation.

No. However human sacrifices were done in the remote times in Monte Alban (500 aC or so). It was very rare. At the time of the Aztecs Zapotecs didn’t practice human sacrifice.

@@HistorywithCy Get a proper microphone, a really cheap one will do the trick decently enough. Get a editing software and a noise removal plugin as well as a compressor if the software doesnt have those built in, there is plenty of free software if you dont want to spend the cash.
