@@davidcota4978 I’m curious to know also. I’m a retired vet at 100% and the VA did not get him hooked on anything. I’ve been prescribed Fentanyl and Hydrocodone and other pain meds since 2006 thanks to my injuries. The VAMC checks my urine toxicity screen every month before I’m given my 28 day supplies of pain meds. Yes, you can lose your VA retirement pay if convicted on a felony, but not your military retirement pay. This guy cannot look into the camera when talking about his “military” references, so that makes me suspicious. His story does not make sense, so that tells me it’s probably not true. A few quick questions from a veteran would get to the truth posthaste. If he is in fact a veteran, he is homeless, because he is refusing the VA’s help. The VA does not just dump you. Sure the VA has done some shady things, but this guy is not one!

It kills me everytime, when you ask them to say a word to their family, how ashamed they become, how emotional and sad they get. They know they want to be with their family and change, but the addiction has its grip on them, and essentially they are a slave to their substance. I can easily say as a former addict myself (opiates, H, Fent) you need to have some mental will power beyond none to finally be able to get clean, esp when you where addicted for years. I feel for everyone of these lost souls. Fentanyl and all these other synthetic drugs is literally the devil and anyone pushing that shit needs to get charged with 2nd degree murder at least.

Great trait to have. I just can't believe how many people who are addicted and the pan handling they do each and every day. So basically the 'minority' are looking after these addicts in the end. Keeping them on the same street keeping them at bay so each and every day they are supported. Wow this shit is real. You can literally get away with it and keep living with addiction. Wow it just boggs my mind. Very sad state of mind/living. I wish this bloke all the best. Great person he just needs a helping ✋

Real shit I’m in Yuma theirs a Marine Corps Air Station. My buddy I worked with whos in right now who got diagnosed with MS prescribed him Valium and just basically kept telling him to take to band aid the problem. My buddy was going down a very dark path I tried to help and just be there for him but he started going down deeper. But he snapped out of it. Right now he’s going to get medically retired as well. 3700 a month for the rest of his life just like this homie in the video. The military and the VA will do what he said in the video and to get help with substance abuse will take long. It’s not their fault that they got addicted and the military had no plan to help them. I see it first hand I’m a civilian MP and these guys need help it’s so sad to watch their people like all of us and they almost lose everything.

Don’t believe everyone who says they served in the military. I question his story from the beginning. He said he’s medically retired/discharged and waiting on his check??? On active duty he had a monthly check. When he got discharged, all that happened was his monthly check changed to retired pay. If he decided to apply for VA pay (IRS taxes exempt) and give up his military retirement pay (Taxed by IRS), his paychecks never stopped. If the VA approved him, then the next paycheck will automatically appear. So, what check is he claiming to be awaiting? How do I know this process? I’m 100% Disability total/permanent retired from USAF since 1992. It’s true that a convicted felon can lose his Federal pay, but like he said, he’s waiting… If he lost his pay due to his crimes, that’s on him. 🏍🇺🇸🎒

"REAL" deployed veterans that have an "HONORABLE" discharge qualify for a housing voucher when homeless. They also get a pension, free medical care and a whole bunch of good stuff. But it has to be HONORABLE, and a proper DD 214 would be needed to prove it ever was true to begin with.

Yea if you're medically discharged you leave active duty drawing pay. Getting a disability rating after released from active duty is what takes time. And usually, in cases that are easily verifiable, not much time at all.
