It’s been primarily the Afghan defense forces fight for quite a while now, aside from the US being there as a support role like medical evacs, supplying weapons and equipment, and training Afghan military/police. Its their home it will always be up to the Afghan military and governments ability to maintain control of its territories. If the Taliban win it truly shows what the majority of Afghans supported all along.

They get funding, guidance, shelter, medical care, and weapons. Its why from 2004 on, the taliban restarted war from pakistan border regions(recruiting from pakistani jihadists and vulnerable afghan refugees). They dont need expensive gear, they just need some basic weapons, gear and training, which is way cheaper than can be said for western troops. That being said, pakistan would rather dump these extremists in afghanistan than fight them.
