The symbolism was that Anduin had his fist clenched AT ALL. It’s totally unlike him to let temper take over, dare I say the first time we’ve ever seen him lose his cool. The hand doesn’t matter, the fact he was ready to throw another punch is what does.

I'm thinking that Anduin is weak emotionally at this time. Still grieving his fathers death, having to deal with Sylvanas, the emotional weight of loosing all those people to the war. And as such, this makes it much easier for N'Zoth to break into his thoughts and mind. He is a strong King, and a good one (that we have seen so far), but he has had little time to grieve and heal. Least that is my take on it.

I think that’s spot on. I think he is as strong as Varian, which is why we don’t see him in the vision of a corrupted Stormwind. He is just dealing with a lot: grief for his father, and knowing that he screwed up with Tyrande. But also something else: his memories of Bolvar have just been rekindled by meeting Taelia. And now here’s Wrathion, reminding him of Onyxia. He hasn’t ever faced and properly dealt with the memories of his childhood. That makes it easier than normal for N’zoth to get in. But all N’Zoth can do is show him a brief vision without words. Wrathion is easily able to snap him out of it just by calling his name. Let me remind you: a literal god is attempting to mind-rape him. Anduin, even in his fragile state, just shrugs the attack off.

I also think part of it is him being a priest; we have shadow priests, so we know they're really vunerable to the void. We also know that the catfolk in Uldum are having issues with their own priests. One of them remarks when you first go there with Magni about how lately their priests have been wracked with increasingly intense nightmares as N'Zoth has been gearing up. Part of that may just be due to their proximity to the Halls of Origination, but Anduin being as sensitive as he is I can't help but think it may be part of it. (Or he could be being specifically targeted! He's sort of the poster child for calm and hope most of the time.)

OMG THANK YOU! That accusation about Varian's death was driving me nuts! Also... you didn't mention once that, while the lads were having their stroll along the balcony, a simple glance to the right would have added a grim relic of Wrathion's dad/grandad, hanging like a skinned corpse beside the lake. (Something I've always thought Stormwind could do without.)

On the whole "hand" thing. Anduin is right handed, that's the hand he punches Wrathion with. Now, when he looks down at his hand, it's the left one. Remember, you went back to the whole open of BfA and the discovery of the azerite, well, he was holding that in his right hand. Given that in old mythology/heraldry, right is a light (remember he reached into the sky to pull the light at Lorderon?), and left is "sinister", which in our vocabulary (outside of heraldry) means something that is harmful or evil is happening. So, now we have that side of the situation--Anduin isn't going to be able to hold onto the light (as you said), but has to learn to use "the other hand" and how that will play into this. Yeah, that's what I saw, anyway. LOVE the discussion, well done (and omg, that ship with Flynn and Shaw and then the whole Anduin and Wrathion ship, I'll sail on that one all the day long!). Regarding how easily Anduin seems to be affected by N'zoth's influence, that was actually mentioned later on the main quest campgain, that the priests within Uldum are affected by nightmares, and how the game has been pointing out that light and void are two different sides of the same coin, it probably means N'zoth can affect priests far easier than other people. That is my theory at least

I think the relationship between Anduin and Wrathion is interesting because Anduin was in part raised by Onyxia and betrayed by her. Do he may yet still have some sore spots for meddling black dragons. After all, Wrathion succeeded where Onyxia failed. And used Anduin's sense of mercy to do it.

Maybe nobody knows how to yank it out. It's probably even harder than to move a mountain. It's enormous. Don't really even know what's canonical size of that sword. If you go by the cinematic where Sargeras does the stabbing... the sword is MUCH MUCH bigger than in the actual game. In the game, you can fly above it's hilt. In that cinematic, the end of the hilt was basically far in space. How could anyone ever remove that?

As you play along, and get to Uldum, the king Phaoris says that their PRIESTS were having nightmares about the ruin to come....I think that is Blizz trying to tell us that priests are more vulnerable to N'Zoths corruption, including Anduin.

thanks for clearing up the confusion with that line XD I read War Crimes, once...guess I missed Wrathion letting Garrosh out...although, in Wrathion's defense, Gul'dan's return was a whole long chain of events that had multiple people involved; player characters, Khadgar, Thrall...to name a few. One could say the true originator of that chain was Thrall for making Garrosh warchief in the first place. On another note, I'm not sure what I'm more tired of...fans taking every pair of characters who so much as glance in each other's direction and act like they're soul mates...or the "we absolutely loathe each other, we MUST be soul mates" trope. I remember in the 90s and early 00s when it was just a question of whether the opposite sexes could be just friends...not it seems it's a question of "can anyone be just friends with anyone?" -_- (yes, I expect people to yell and scream and call me a homophobe just because I still support characters being just friends and happen to be saying this against a homosexual pairing that I *don't* support.) Wrathion might just be referring to Deathwing as his father as a "father of the flight" kinda thing. Deathwing clearly can't be his biological father because it's canon that post-corruption Deathwing seared all his mates dead when he tried mating with them, all except one (Sinestra, and even she was horribly scarred physically and mentally as a result). If Nyxondra mated with her father (which maybe possibly we don't know), she'd be dead long before Wrathion's egg was laid tbh. As a side note, Wrathion did refer to Onyxia as "auntie Onyxia" back in the MoP leggo cloak questline. Just food for thought. She would have been his half-sister if Deathwing was his biological father, so clearly that can't be the case.

I think when Wrathion calls Deathwing his father he means it as a progenitor to his kind, not his real father because we don't know who that is. Sintharia (Sinestra) is the only black dragon that survived breeding with Neltharian, so he can't be Wrathion's actual father, and is actually his grandfather.

I really these videos because you always symbolism i miss. In this case I missed the parallel better the legion epilogue and this cinematic which makes sense when you said it. I also missed evitel prediction of wrathion meeting auduin in one of the encrypted cinematics and for some reason I thought this one had been datamined which seems silly in hindsight. you also highlighted how much you could ship wrathion and auduin from just this video alone because i didn't how suggestive facial expressions were till you replayed them. I'm glad you explained that wrathion freed garrosh and how that lead to gul'dan being on the broken shore because had to remind me that wrathion was the person that freed garrosh as i had forgotten. I really liked this cinematic, my favourite bit was watching auduin punch wrathion as I may have watched that about 20 times. It was also really good to see n'zoth in the cinematic and it was great watching him destroy building. it was also good seeing wrathion new model in a cinematic because it's been amazing since we saw it in datamining and as I said previously it was great seeing him get punched in the face. honestly i'm not that surprised that auduin feel to corruption , i think the idea is that just about anyone could be unless super special like magni and auduin is just a priest which lets be honest priests fall to corruption a lot even in real life. I was already hyped for 8.3 but this cinematic and video definitely helped. I forgot to clear by bags again some i'm sure how many fish i caught but i think its 16 mauve stingers and 12 viper eel which is a little less than normal so that probably accurate. I would like apologise to the excessive use of also as i suck at writing and it worked for the sentences. it you read to the end of this comment i hoped you liked and i hope you have a good week. The destruction of the cathedral in Anduin's vision also beuatifully references the destruction of Dalaran in a Warcraft III cinematic. That one accompanied by Archimond speaking of the folly of men, and their complete insignificance and those of their creations. Back then it was the daemon destroying a city of mages telling 'they will be consumed by the very fire they thought to control'. Now it's an Old God, the Void being, thrashing the Cathedral of Light. If thess set of details is indeed intentional that just bumps the already great cinematic waay up in the gloriously crafted ranking.
