I set out for Phish's 2019 Fall Tour with a goal in mind: to create a documentary that captures the lot scene and fanbase from the perspective of Phish fans.
Talk (A Phish Lot Documentary) is the final product, featuring interviews in chronological order of when they were recorded along with some funky interludes. It was shot in Phish lots and surrounding venue areas throughout the entirety of the tour.
Released on October 13, 2020, the first day of what would have been Fall Tour 2020 (according to rumors).
00:00 - Intro
01:08 - Intro Interlude
02:27 - Providence Part 1
05:31 - Providence Interlude
06:39 - Providence Part 2
11:53 - Nassau Interlude
12:33 - Nassau
15:48 - The Met Interlude
16:37 - The Met
23:38 - Pittsburgh Interlude
24:45 - Pittsburgh
28:20 - Charleston Interlude
29:30 - Charleston Part 1
36:08 - Charleston Interlude 2

100 percent agree. 96-99 was kinda dark on tour. I think the invasion of speed then later the synthetics made tour have this horrible energy. People started looking sick and H became a problem.

Totally agree. In my opinion the golden Phish years were those right before Jerry's death in '95. After that the Dead scene that had become really toxic simply migrated over. If you were lucky enough to be catching shows in '93 and '94 it was clear as day. I remember a late summer run through the northwest in Aug. '93. They played small theaters. There was no lot scene to speak of. After each show Trey and at least one or two other guys from the band (usually Mike or Page) would simply be outside the venue out in the lot talking to fans. There would only be maybe a dozen people chilling there talking to them, never more than 20. This was after every show. Then Jerry died and everyone from Dead tour simply jumped onto Phish tour, and it blew up from there.

I’ll never forget at a show in Atlanta at Lakewood amphitheater (probably ‘97-‘98?) an older lady and her husband were walking through the lot and she stopped, pointed to some blown glass pipes and exclaimed “Honey! They’re selling crack pipes!”. I died .. 😊

I love Phish and being at a Phish show is something EVERY music lover should experience. My gf was never a fan until I played her Waste (which she LOVES) and If I Could, and Sample In a Jar, and several more. I took her to a show in Camden and we had tons of fun and she was in shock at how awesome the Phish lots in Camden are.

I called a Curtain too Polaris 98. It wasn't so rare back then though Edit: My best call was probably the Deer Creek 2003 Gumbo. That summer all I planned on doing was Star Lake and the IT. But I ended up WINNING A PAIR OF TICKETS ON JAMBASE. For the 2nd of 3 nights at Deer Creek. So a friend and I drove the 2 hours west, got 2 doses each (fractals) and I just had a feeling they'd play Gumbo because they had played a good one there in 98. And the one they played was incredible. Best jam I heard that summer. That Deer Creek 03 Gumbo is up there with Star Lake 97 (my first show) for best ever

Good stuff man, thanks for putting it together! Love the pittsburgh dude, my first show was 3/11/88 but I agree with him in that up until say Jerry's death everyone was younger east coast college kids, I think a darker element crept into the lot post Jerry death. They weren't deadheads and they weren't phishheads they just wanted to sell nitrous and do heroin. I know Phish got banned from Lake Placid after dec 95 shows because of needles found at an elementary school. They could have been anybody but again before that it was really kind of nerdy college kids using the internet who like how fucked up phish was and heard about the shenanigans on phish.net and rec.music.phish. long live RMP

That there is. Bad apples...Same thing happened to the Dead in 87 after Touch of Grey hit #8 on the pop charts. All of a sudden the scene got too big. Lots of people (vendors included) toured for the party. They lost RedRocks, the Greek, and only came back to Hampton for 2 years of 8 before Jerry passed. It (shit) happens. Amazing the parallels tho. I wonder how many people move east for Phish proximity like we all moved west in the late 80s to the Bay Area for Dead consumption? I’ve still never seen Phish on the east coast (tho I’m from DC). Your movie tho!!!! Has made me change my mind and as soon as another NYE run happens, I’m Mail ordering. I was truly bummed to have not been able to catch my Eugene/Gorge 5 this last summer. Would have put me at 25 Phish shows (1st Salem OR 12/1/94). Saw 115 Dead but most of those were pre kids! It makes a difference. Now my kids would go with me to Phish. I mean, they grew up as their favorite phish song being several versions of Harpua. This is around 8 and 10. They are now 29 and 31. Nuff said. Love Phish!!! Miss em bad. Thanks 🙏 again for the doc.

Haha it sounds like she meant tour in general, as she goes on to explain how she started doing Ratdog, Phil, etc then Phish came back. Good to hear you appreciate the newer fan interviews though!

I dunno, as an addict I kinda get it. I've been opiate-free since Oct. 13th, 2008. I was recently talking to a kid (And when I say kid, I mean *kid*. Seventeen years old.) in an airport who was on his way to rehab for heroin, and it was all I could do to keep it together while I cheered him on and wished him well. No judgement to anyone for their choices. Hell, I'm not 100% sober. But opiates . . . Oof, they're a bitch. Stay well out there, friend! ✌

@@MikeP2055 Mike I completely understand where you're coming from. I battled a awful opiate addiction for 10 years. It chewed me up, spit me out, and left me a shell of my former self. I've clawed my way back over the years and I'm super thankful for that. I would most likely be dead if I hadn't made that change. So many of my friends have OD'd and not come back from it because that is simply what happens to opiate addicts. You crave more and more trying to chase a feeling until it takes you. If you are reading this and you are still battling addiction, please know that you can make it out. It will suck and be difficult, but it will save your life.

@@analog_memories Thank you! I'm doing pretty good these days. I probably drink more than I should, but I steer clear of the opiates. They chewed me up and spit me out as well. It's a goddamn miracle I'm still alive. Be well, my friend. ✌
