There is a common phrase "you can force the horse to the river but you can't force it to drink water. The person that caters for the horse has done its part. It's the responsibility of the horse to now drink water or not. Same with parenting. Parents have their role to play and the children are saddled with the responsibility of accepting it or doing as they please. It's more of a matter of choice/decision.
